  1. 1. Muscle function and physical activity in pre-pubertal school children

    Författare :Susanna Stenevi Lundgren; Ortopedi - klinisk och molekylär osteoporosforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; children; physical activity; exercise; isokinetic muscle strength; vertical jump height; normative; intervention; school transport; DXA; anthropometry; fat mass; lean mass; weight; height; body mass index; girls; boys; pre-pubertal;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Regular participation in physical activity or organized exercise is regarded as one important lifestyle factor that could improve musculoskeletal health, fitness and body composition. For children and adolescents physical activity is important not only in training of the neuromuscular system, coordination and balance, but in a wider perspective, for adopting a lifestyle that possibly reduces the risk of coronary artery disease, obesity, osteoporosis and other contributors to morbidity and mortality in the population. 2. 2. Effect of Physical Activity on Bone, Muscle and Fracture Risk during Growth

    Författare :Bjarne Löfgren; Ortopedi - klinisk och molekylär osteoporosforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; BMC; bone size; children; exercise; fracture; growth; hip stucture analysis; muscle strength; physical activity;

    Sammanfattning : Osteoporosis and related fractures are a global health problem. Physical activity, especially during growth, has been suggested as a strategy to improve musculoskeletal health in the population. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The Influence of Physical Activity on Musculoskeletal Characteristics and Fracture Risk at Growth

    Författare :Fredrik Detter; Ortopedi - klinisk och molekylär osteoporosforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; BMC; BMD; pQCT; DXA; Fractures; Children; Bone; Muscle;

    Sammanfattning : Physical Activity (PA) can improve neuromuscular development. A high level of physical activity can perhaps however lead to more fractures. This is a longitudinal population-based exercise intervention study where the school-based physical education (PE) in one school is increased from mean 60 min/week to mean 200 min/ week. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Physical activity and the young female skeleton

    Författare :Örnolfur Valdimarsson; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; muskelsystem; reumatologi; Skelett; Skeleton; muscle system; rheumatology locomotion; Bone mass; Osteoporosis; Young female skeleton; Physical activity;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to identify the influence of calcium, physical activity and detraining on bone mass and bone size in girls and young women. We hypothesised that calcium intake above a specific level does not enhance the accrual of bone mineral, that exercise predominantly influences the skeleton in the early pubertal period and that reduced training is followed by a loss of exercise-induced skeletal benefits. 5. 5. Physical activity and its effect on bone in the short- and long- term perspective

    Författare :Christian Lindén; Ortopedi - klinisk och molekylär osteoporosforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; orthopaedics; Surgery; fractures; children; exercise; bone size; osteoporosis; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi; traumatology; aBMD;

    Sammanfattning : Osteoporosis is a growing problem worldwide where Sweden has one of the highest fragility fracture incidences in the world. The growing years are thought to be an opportune time to build strong bones and the enhancement of peak bone mass (PBM) has been suggested as a prevention strategy for osteoporosis. LÄS MER
