26. Pharmacoepidemiology of Antibiotics, Weak Opioids and Statins with Special Reference to Socioeconomic Aspects - an Ecological Approach
Sammanfattning : The influence of socioeconomic factors on drug utilisation has been studied by pharmacoepidemiological analyses involving 1) drugs that are used to cure disease, such as antibiotics, 2) drugs that are used to alleviate symptoms, such as weak opioids, and 3) drugs that are used to prevent disease, such as statins. In a large Swedish city (Malmö), the utilisation of four major drug groups (ATC-groups A = alimentation, C = circulation, N = nervous system, and R = respiration) correlated positively with an unfavourable socioeconomic situation, most pronouncedly with group N and least so with group R. 27. Group A Streptococci; Epidemiology and Genetics of Antibiotic Resistance
Sammanfattning : Group A streptococci (GAS) cause throat and skin infections, severe invasive diseases as well as the non-suppurative complications acute rheumatic fever and glomerulonephritis. GAS have retained susceptibility to betalactam drugs, but resistance to alternative antibiotics is of concern. LÄS MER
28. Direct Demonstration of Influenza Virus and Mycoplasma Pneumoniae in the Respiratory Tract
Sammanfattning : Diagnostic tests based on nucleic acid amplification have become available for Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) and influenza viruses. Here, an MP PCR test detected 100% of infections during the first three symptomatic weeks, whereas classical serology detected 21% week 1, 56% week 2, and 100% week 3. LÄS MER

30. Food hypersensitivity among schoolchildren : prevalence, Health Related Quality of Life and experiences of double-blind placebo-controlled food challenges
Sammanfattning : Background: The prevalence of reported food hypersensitivity among children has increased in Western countries. However, the prevalence varies largely due to differences in methods used in different studies. Double-blind placebo-controlled food challenge (DBPCFC) is the most reliable method to verify or exclude food hypersensitivity. LÄS MER
