6. The Anabolic - Anti-catabolic Paradigm of Augmenting Skeletal Regeneration: A Bone Quality Perspective
Sammanfattning : Successful fracture repair is a complex series of coordinated processes leading to regeneration of new bone to bridge the fracture site, remodelling of the newly formed bone and restoration of skeletal function. Disruption of these processes occurs in approximately 10% of all fractures and leads to delayed or failed healing requiring surgical interventions, increased complication rates, prolonged rehabilitation and high morbidity. 7. Changes, Activities and Bones : Intra-site analysis of the Pitted Ware Culture site Ajvide on the Baltic Sea island of Gotland
Sammanfattning : In this dissertation the structure, practices and evolution of a single Pitted Ware Culture site, Ajvide on Gotland, is explored and placed within the larger Pitted Ware Culture context. The site has been excavated over a period of 24 years, making it one of the most excavated Pitted Ware Culture sites in Sweden. LÄS MER
8. Molecular regulators of glucose and lipid metabolism in skeletal muscle
Sammanfattning : Skeletal muscle is a primary site of insulin action and insulin-stimulated glucose transport and occupies a center stage in maintaining whole body glucose and lipid homeostasis. Another key feature of a healthy skeletal muscle is its ability to switch between utilization of lipids and glucose as fuel in response to feeding or fasting respectively. LÄS MER
9. The role of SUMO pathway in pathophsiology of skeletal muscle
Sammanfattning : Skeletal muscles are highly evolved and essential organs comprising 40 % of the total human body weight. They are essential in maintaining posture, energy metabolism, secrete hormones and act as central reserves for amino acids. LÄS MER
10. Ca2+ fluxes and insulin action in cardiac and skeletal muscles
Sammanfattning : Obesity and type 2 diabetes are major and rapidly increasing health problems in society. They are associated with several life-threatening conditions, including heart and renal failure, and damage to the nervous system. An inability of cells to respond normally to insulin, insulin resistance, is a key feature in obesity and type 2 diabetes. LÄS MER
