    Sammanfattning : This thesis takes the conservator as a starting point to explore more-than-human aspects of the museum of modernity. Assuming that built-in obstacles impinge when museums today deal with environmental issues‚ it investigates new and alternative perspectives on the engagement with our immediate surroundings, in this case the museum objects. 2. 2. Entomological Lidar : Target Characterization and Field Applications

    Författare :Samuel Jansson; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lidar; Laser radar; Scheimpflug lidar; Entomological lidar;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis treats entomological lidar from various angles: laboratory reference work on insects of interest, methodological development of lidar- and data processing methods, as well as field implementations of lidar techniques for entomological research. Insects are crucial components of ecosystems and are currently in a global decline. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Purification, Stereoisomeric Analysis and Quantification of Biologically Active Compounds in Extracts from Pine Sawflies, African Butterflies and Orchid Bees

    Författare :Joakim Bång; Erik Hedenström; Kristina Sjödin; Hans-Erik Högberg; Anna-Karin Borg-Karlsson; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Semiochemicals; sex pheromone; pine sawflies; Bicyclus; Euglossa; chiral separation; derivatisation; GC-MS; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Stereochemistry plays an important role in nature because biologically important molecules such as amino acids, nucleotides and sugars, only exist in enantiomerically pure forms. Semiochemicals carry messages, between the same species (pheromones) and between different species (allelochemicals). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Ground beetle dynamics in intensively managed agricultural landscapes

    Författare :Erkki Palmu; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carabidae; species richness; species diversity; functional traits; body size; emergence; dispersal; stable isotopes; deuterium; oxygen; crop diversification; landscape heterogeneity; agricultural management;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis I have focused on studying dynamics of ground beetle assemblages in intensively managed agricultural landscapes. By definition, the land cover of these landscapes is dominated by annually tilled farmland, comprising a range of different crop types, in the context of the southern Swedish province of Scania mostly winter wheat, spring barley, winter rapeseed, and sugar beets. 5. 5. Natural enemies: Functional aspects of local management in agricultural landscapes

    Författare :Helena Hanson; Biodiversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Agricultural intensification; sustainable agriculture; land use; management intensity; landscape scale; ecosystem services; biological control; species trait; pesticides; predatory arthropods; parasitoids; pollen beetles;

    Sammanfattning : Agricultural intensification has raised the global food production but also caused major concerns about environmental and health effects, including contamination by pesticides. Pesticide applications may induce toxicity not only on the target pest species but especially on non-target species. LÄS MER
