  1. 11. Energy-Related Metabolites during and after Induced Myocardial Ischemia and Retroperfusion of the Coronary Sinus : An Experimental Study in the Pig with the Microdialysis Technique and Extracorporeal Circulation

    Författare :Vitas Zemgulis; Rolf Ekroth; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Ischemia; myocardial infarction; reperfusion; energy metabolism; coronary sinus retroperfusion; microdialysis; taurine; nucleoside transport; adenosine; aerobic lactate production; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Thoracic and Cardivascular Suregery; kirurgi; särskilt thoraxkirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : In the clinical setting great efforts have been made with contradictory results to operate upon acutely myocardial ischemic patients. The reasons for the absence of unambiguous results are not well understood nor are they scientifically explored. LÄS MER

  2. 12. An injectable biphasic bone substitute in sinus augmentation

    Författare :Anna Truedsson; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dentala implantat; Dental Implants; Bone transplantation; Bone substitutes;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns a new synthetic, injectable bone substitute, Cerament™, primarily developed for treatment of vertebral fractures. The purpose of the thesis was to investigate the properties of the newbone substitute, that is, whether it can contribute to the generation of new bone formation needed for placement of future dental implants. 3. 13. Mucosal regeneration following sinus surgery : an experimental study and clinical study

    Författare :Karin Forsgren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :chronic sinusitis; histopathology; Caldwell-Luc operation; sinus surgery; rabbit; regeneration; sinus mucosa; experimental sinusitis; microcirculation; blood flow; vasoreactivity; nerve regeneration; sympathetic; neuropeptide Y; tyrosine hydroxylase; immunocytochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The investigations described in this thesis concerned functional and structural aspects of the regenerated sinus mucosa following sinus surgery. In a biopsy material collected pre- and postoperatively from patients with chronic maxillary sinusitis, randomized for treatment with either Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) or the Caldwell-Luc procedure (CL), histological parameters were evaluated semi-quantitatively and correlated to endoscopic findings and patients' symptoms. 4. 14. On guided bone reformation in the maxillary sinus to enable placement and integration of endosseous implants. Clinical and experimental studies

    Författare :Giovanni Cricchio; Stefan Lundgren; Lars Sennerby; Gerry Raghoebar; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :bone grafting; donor morbidity; iliac crest; dental implants; membrane elevation; maxillary sinus floor elevation;

    Sammanfattning : Dental caries and periodontal disease are the major causes for tooth loss. While dental caries commonly involve the posterior teeth in both jaws, the teeth most commonly lost due to periodontal problems are the first and second molars in the maxilla. As a consequence, the upper posterior jaw is frequently edentulous. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Phase Transitions in Large Oscillator Lattices

    Författare :Per Östborn; Antikens kultur och samhällsliv; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; thermodynamics; statistical physics; phase transition; limit cycle oscillator; frequency entrainment; synchronization; sinus node; classical mechanics; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; arrhythmia; gravitation; quantum mechanics; relativity; klassisk mekanik; kvantmekanik; relativitet; statistisk fysik; termodynamik; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Östborn;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with large networks of limit cycle oscillators. A limit cycle oscillator is a dynamical system that has a periodic attractor in phase space, and is defined in continuous time. To each such oscillator one can associate a natural frequency. LÄS MER
