11. Modelling of constitutive and fatigue behaviour of a single-crystal nickel-base superalloy
Sammanfattning : In this licentiate thesis the work done in the project KME410 will be presented. The overall objective of this project is to evaluate and develop tools for designing against fatigue in single-crystal nickel-base superalloys in gas turbines. LÄS MER
12. Toughness Enhancement in Hard Single-Crystal Transition-Metal Nitrides : V-Mo-N and V-W-N Alloys
Sammanfattning : Transition-metal nitrides are known for their high hardness, good wear resistance, high-temperature stability, and chemical inertness. Because of these properties, they are extensively used in many industrial applications, notably as protective wear, erosion, and scratch resistant coatings, which are often subjected to high thermo-mechanical stresses. 13. Single crystal sapphire dental implants : experimental and clinical studies
Sammanfattning : The aim of this project was to evaluate single synthetic sapphire crystals as dental implants, with special reference to correlation of clinical and in vitro/in vivo methods of research. The laboratory studies confirmed chemical stability. LÄS MER
14. Molecular Alligator Clips: A Study of Metal-Molecule Contacts for Molecular Electronics
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we present a computational study of the elementary building blocks for molecular electronics, interconnected electronic devices with critical dimensions below 5 nm. Building electronic circuits on that scale requires stable connection between the various parts of the device and to the macroscopic metal electrodes, needed for power supply, support and integration with conventional electronics. 15. Cooperative Lithium-Ion Insertion Mechanisms in Cathode Materials for Battery Applications
Sammanfattning : Understanding lithium-ion insertion/extraction mechanisms in battery electrode materials is of crucial importance in developing new materials with better cycling performance. In this thesis, these mechanisms are probed for two different potential cathode materials by a combination of electrochemical and single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. LÄS MER
