1. Transportation Mission-Based Optimization of Heavy Combination Road Vehicles and Distributed Propulsion, Including Predictive Energy and Motion Control
Sammanfattning : This thesis proposes methodologies to improve heavy vehicle design by reducing the total cost of ownership and by increasing energy efficiency and safety. Environmental issues, consumers expectations and the growing demand for freight transport have created a competitive environment in providing better transportation solutions. LÄS MER
2. Towards Natural Control of Artificial Limbs
Sammanfattning : The use of implantable electrodes has been long thought as the solution for a more natural control of artificial limbs, as these offer access to long-term stable and physiologically appropriate sources of control, as well as the possibility to elicit appropriate sensory feedback via neurostimulation. Although these ideas have been explored since the 1960’s, the lack of a long-term stable human-machine interface has prevented the utilization of even the simplest implanted electrodes in clinically viable limb prostheses. 3. Removal of Micropollutants from Wastewater in Aerobic Granular Sludge and Activated Sludge Systems
Sammanfattning : The presence of organic substances in the aquatic environment, such as pharmaceutically active compounds, antibiotics, and personal care products, has become a worldwide issue of increasing environmental concern. As they are present at nano- to microgram per liter concentrations, they are defined as organic micropollutants (OMPs). LÄS MER
4. Novel catalysts development for NOx reduction from H2 combustion engines
Sammanfattning : Hydrogen, as a clean energy carrier, burns without producing any carbon emissions. Hydrogen internal combustion engines (H2-ICE) are considered an alternative for the transition from conventional fossil-fuel vehicles. LÄS MER
5. Degradation Mechanisms of Heat Resistant Steel at Elevated Temperatures : In an Iron Ore Pelletizing Industry
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the different degradation mechanisms of the stainless steel in a travelling grate in a Grate-Kiln iron ore pellet indurator. The travelling grate is a conveyor belt that transports green-body pellets to a rotary kiln while the pellets are being dried and pre-heated to a temperature of 900-1100 °C by recycled hot air.
