1. Quantitative equilibrium calculations on systems with relevance to copper smelting and converting
Sammanfattning : The present thesis gives a summary of results obtained through theoretical and experimental studies of systems with relevance to copper smelting and converting. Many chemical elements are involved in the copper production processes and a detailed experimental study would be very time- consuming and expensive. 2. Complexation of Thorium with Phosphates and Silicates under Repository Conditions
Sammanfattning : In order to make reliable performance assessments of the safety for planed underground repositories for spent nuclear fuel large amounts of chemical thermodynamical data is needed. In some cases the databases used for modeling the migration behavior of radionuclides in groundwater is missing data. LÄS MER
3. Viscosities of some Slag systems containing Calcium Fluoride
Sammanfattning : .... LÄS MER
4. Development of electron microscopy towards nano-structured porous materials : Focus on novel zeolites from layered silicates and chiral mesoporous nanotubes
Sammanfattning : Three novel zeolites (M-IEZ-MWW, IEZ-FER and IEZ-CDO) have been successfully synthesised from the corresponding precursors. Structure characterisation of those materials was conducted by TEM. LÄS MER
5. Interactions between iron oxides and silicates
Sammanfattning : The main objective of this Licentiate thesis was to acquire a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in the sorption of dissolved silicate from aqueous solutions onto iron oxide surfaces by using Attenuated Total Reflection Fourier Transform Infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy and subsequently to develop a method to monitor the orientation of bentonite platelets settling onto the bare iron oxide using polarized ATR-FTIR technique. The infrared spectra show that the silicate concentration and pH both determine the species of sorbed silicate on the iron oxide surfaces. LÄS MER
