    Sammanfattning : Ribokinase phosphorylates the abundant sugar ribose, using ATP in the presence of magnesium. The phosphorylation is the first reaction in ribose metabolism and the product, ribose-5-phosphate, can enter the pentose phosphate pathway and glycolysis.     Sammanfattning : The starting point in this licentiate thesis is the fact that students are to do a national test in Swedish, Course B, in upper secondary school, and that their oral presentations are to be assessed by the teacher.
