1. Numerical Modelling and Statistical Analysis of Ocean Wave Energy Converters and Wave Climates
Sammanfattning : Ocean wave energy is considered to be one of the important potential renewable energy resources for sustainable development. Various wave energy converter technologies have been proposed to harvest the energy from ocean waves. This thesis is based on the linear generator wave energy converter developed at Uppsala University. LÄS MER
2. The Baltic Sea Wave Field : Impacts on the Sediment and Biogeochemistry
Sammanfattning : The wave field in the Baltic Sea has been modelled for a two-year period with the spectral wave model HYPAS. There is a large seasonal variation in the field and a minor annual one, both reflect the wind variation in the area. Since the Baltic Sea is fetch limited, the dominant wind direction is important for the maximum wave heights. LÄS MER
3. Wind-wave interaction effects on offshore wind energy
Sammanfattning : This thesis is devoted to the investigation of the impacts of fast moving ocean surface waves on the aerodynamics of offshore wind turbines. The impacts of non-locally generated waves (swell) on the Marine Atmospheric BoundaryLayer (MABL) and thereby on offshore wind turbine aerodynamics are studied numerically by using Large Eddy Simulations and the Actuator Line Method. 4. Fatigue Assessment and Extreme Response Prediction of Ship Structures
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, a simplified narrow-band approximation model is proposed to estimate fatigue damage of ship structures, and an efficient method for extreme response predictions is also developed using upcrossing spectrums of ship responses. The proposed fatigue model includes two main parameters, significant stress range hs and zero upcrossing frequency fz. LÄS MER
5. On flexible random field models for spatial statistics: Spatial mixture models and deformed SPDE models
Sammanfattning : Spatial random fields are one of the key concepts in statistical analysis of spatial data. The random field explains the spatial dependency and serves the purpose of regularizing interpolation of measured values or to act as an explanatory model. LÄS MER
