  1. 11. Aniridia-related keratopathy : structural changes, signaling pathways and clinical aspects

    Författare :André Vicente; Fatima Pedrosa Domellöf; Berit Byström; Luis Abegão Pinto; Jing-Xia Liu; Anders Ivarsen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; aniridia; aniridia-related keratopathy; PAX6; keratoplasty; fetal cornea; Notch1; Wnt; sonic hedgehog; mTOR; keratocyte; oftalmiatrik; ophthalmology;

    Sammanfattning : Aniridia is a congenital autosomal dominant, bilateral, panocular condition, caused by haploinsufficiency of the Pax6 transcription factor. Aniridia-related keratopathy (ARK) significantly affects vision and quality of life in these patients. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Genetic pathways controlling CNS development : The role of Notch signaling in regulating daughter cell proliferation in Drosophila

    Författare :Caroline Bivik Stadler; Stefan Thor; Jan-Ingvar Jönsson; Allison Bardin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The human central nervous system (CNS) displays the greatest cellular diversity of any organ system, consisting of billions of neurons, of numerous cell sub-types, interconnected in a vast network. Given this enormous complexity, decoding the genetic programs controlling the multistep process of CNS development remains a major challenge. LÄS MER

  3. 13. On the role of signaling pathways in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis

    Författare :Johan Stenberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Osteoarthritis; Signalling pathways; proteomics; genomics; GDF5; Wnt;

    Sammanfattning : The problem with degenerating cartilage tissues is one of the major causes for disability worldwide. The aetiology of the cartilage degenerating disease osteoarthritis is elusive and considered to be multifactorial. The aim of the present thesis was to find new hypotheses regarding the aetiology of osteoarthritis with focus on signalling pathways. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Studies of Budding Yeast Transcription Factors Acting Downstream of Nutrient Signaling Pathways

    Författare :Niklas Nordberg; Hans Ronne; Anders Blomberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Budding yeast; nutrient signaling; glucose repression; aging; caloric restriction; JmjC; histone demethylation; Mig1; Mig2; Mig3; Gis1; Rph1; Molekylär genetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Being able to respond to extracellular cues such as nutrients and growth factors is of vital importance to all living cells. Pathways have therefore evolved which can sense the extracellular status, transmit a signal through the cell and affect gene expression, which ultimately enables adaptation. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Signaling pathways in the activation and proliferation of Drosophila melanogaster blood cells

    Författare :Carl-Johan Zettervall; Marie Meister; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :innate immunity; cellular immunity; molecular signaling; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : The larva of the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster is an excellent model to study the molecular control of innate cellular immune responses. Cellular responses take place, and can be studied, following infestation of the wasp Leptopilina boulardi. This response includes proliferation and activation (differentiation) of the blood cells (hemocytes). LÄS MER
