  1. 1. The Onset of Ethnic War as a Bargaining Process : Testing a Signaling Model

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Institutionen för freds- och konfliktforskning

    Författare :Magnus Öberg; Han Dorussen; [2002]
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Peace and conflict research; ethnic conflict; civil war; escalation; bargaining; game theory; signaling; selection bias; Freds- och konfliktforskning; SOCIAL SCIENCES Social sciences Political science Peace and conflict research; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP Socialvetenskap Statsvetenskap Freds- och konfliktforskning; Peace and Conflict Research; Freds- och konfliktforskning;

    Sammanfattning : Most theories of ethnic conflict explain ethnic war by reference to the factors that motivate and enable ethnic groups to rebel. To rebel is to rise up against or challenge government authority; but for war to be the outcome of a challenge the government must attempt to forcefully reassert its authority. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Adrenergic signaling in insulin-sensitive tissues

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Wenner-Grens institut för experimentell biologi

    Författare :Daniel L. Yamamoto; Tore Bengtsson; Barbara Cannon; Michael Cawthorne; [2007]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metabolism; Adrenergic; Glucose; Signaling; Skeletal muscle; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Organism biology Animal physiology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Organismbiologi Zoofysiologi; zoofysiologi; Zoological physiology;

    Sammanfattning : Glucose metabolism in insulin-sensitive tissues such as skeletal muscle and adipose tissue is tightly regulated by external stimuli. Metabolic changes in these tissues have direct effects on whole body metabolism. Such metabolic changes can be induced or influenced by adrenergic stimulation. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Cardiovascular beta-adrenergic signaling Maturation and programming effects of hypoxia in a chicken model

    Detta är en avhandling från Linköping : Linköping University Electronic Press

    Författare :Isa Lindgren; Jordi Altimiras; Eduardo Villamor; Laura Bennet; [2010]

    Sammanfattning : Despite the importance of β-adrenergic receptors (βARs) in cardiovascular disease, not much is known about how prenatal hypoxia effects βAR signaling in the postnatal animal. Thus, the aim of this thesis was to characterize the pre- and postnatal maturation of the cardiovascular βARs and the effects of chronic prenatal hypoxia on βAR signaling in the embryo and adult animal using the chicken as experimental model. 4. 4. Canertinib-induced leukemia cell death signaling effects of a pan-ERBB inhibitor

    Detta är en avhandling från Linköping : Linköping University Electronic Press

    Författare :Cecilia Trinks; Thomas Walz; Jan-Ingvar Jönsson; Anna-Lotta Hallbeck; Dan Grandér; [2012]

    Sammanfattning : Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) is the most common acute leukemia affecting adults, the second most frequent leukemia in children, and remains one of the most difficult to cure. Despite a substantial progress in understanding the pathogenesis of AML, general and rather unspecific cytostatic drugs such as cytarabine and anthracyclins still make up the cornerstones of therapy. 5. 5. Studies on the transmembrane signaling of β1 integrins

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Annika Armulik; [2000]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Integrin β1; signaling; transmembrane domain; CAS; focal adhesion kinase; Biokemi; MEDICINE Chemistry Biochemistry; MEDICIN Kemi Biokemi; Medical Biochemistry; medicinsk biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Integrins are heterodimeric cell surface receptors, composed of an α and a β subunit, mainly binding for extracellular matrix proteins. lntegrin subunit β1 can combine with at least 12 a subunits and thus form the biggest subfamily within the integrin family. LÄS MER
