  1. 1. Channel Shortening in Wireless Communication

    Författare :Sha Hu; Kommunikationsteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Channel shortening CS ; multi-input multi-output MIMO ; intersymbol interference ISI ; achievable information rate AIR ; partial marginalization PM ; dirty paper coding DPC ; large intelligent surface LIS ; Cramér-Rao lower bound CRLB ;

    Sammanfattning : The concept of Channel Shortening (CS) is a well-known technique that has a rich history over 40 years. CS transfers linear vector channels such as multi-input multi-output (MIMO) and intersymbol interference (ISI) channels into ``shortened'' versions, for the purpose of reducing demodulation-complexity and improving data-transmission performance. 2. 2. The Effect of Mechanical Characteristics of Basal Decollement and Basement Structures on Deformation of the Zagros Basin

    Författare :Abbas Bahroudi; John Cosgrove; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :decollement; extension; Zagros; Hormuz salt; shortening; basement faults; Arabia; mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Sammanfattning : Two fundamental structural elements, basement architecture and basal decollement, play a significant role in the evolution of a tectonically active region. Using different approaches (field data, literature review and analogue models) this thesis demonstrates that these two elements affected the deformation style in the Zagros fold-thrust belt during Mesozoic extensional and Cenozoic contractional episodes. 3. 3. Variability and adaptation in the contractile system of smooth muscle

    Författare :Mia Löfgren; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; essential light chain; desmin; shortening velocity; integrin; intermediate filament; hypertrophy; non-muscle myosin; smooth muscle; myosin; heavy chain; Physiology; Fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the large diversity of the contractile properties in smooth muscle. Six studies, I-VI, are included. I: a slow smooth muscle (aorta) has a different nucleotide and phosphate dependence compared to a fast type (taenia coli). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Studies in Latvian Comparative Dialectology : —with special focus on word-final *–āj(s)/*–ēj(s) and *–āji(s)/*–ēji(s)

    Författare :Aigars Kalniņš; Jenny Larsson; Peteris Vanags; Marek Majer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Baltic languages; Latvian; Lithuanian; Proto-Latvian; Proto-East Baltic; historical-comparative linguistics; Indo-European linguistics; dialectology; apocope; morphological shortening; inflectional endings; local cases; present 2nd singular; locative; baltiska språk; Baltic Languages;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis consists of four interconnected studies of various topics in the fields of Latvian dialectology and historical linguistics: (1) apocope and shortening; (2) loss of the present 2nd singular endings *?i and *??; (3) the development of the participle desinences *??jis *??jis; (4) the ??and ??stem locative singular endings. A recurrent theme is a potential loss of *j in the phonological sequences *??ji(s) *??ji(s), which were subsequently contracted to *??j(s) *??j(s). LÄS MER

  5. 5. On the way of making plants smell like moths - a synthetic biology approach

    Författare :Bao-Jian Ding; Funktionell zoologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; moth pheromone; transcriptome; fatty acyl desaturase; fatty acyl reductase; acetyltransferase; chain shortening; chain elongation; heterologous expression; synthetic biology; plant expression;

    Sammanfattning : Moth caterpillars are major agricultural pests in many parts of the world. In general female moths attract male mates with their pheromone over long distance. Most of the described moth pheromones belong to the same class of chemical compounds, fatty acid derivatives that are produced de novo in the pheromone gland. LÄS MER
