16. Experimentell bestämning av klimatanpassning hos tall (Pinus silvestris L. och Pinus contorta Dougl.)
Sammanfattning : This paper summarizes the content of three articles published in Studia Forestalia Suecica 80,81,82, 1970.A study of the annual grouuth rhythm on 2-, 3- and 20-year-old Pinus silvestris and 2-year-old Pinus contorta showed that the following methods can be used for experimental assessment of the climatic adaptation of populations and single trees: shoot- and needle elongation, bark colour onterminal, lignification of annual ring and water content of needles. 17. Molecular mechanisms regulating early cone development in Norway spruce Picea abies (Karst)
Sammanfattning : Flower development progress through distinct phases that are controlled by complex genetic networks, which in turn are regulated by both endogenous and exogenous factors. A large number of functional studies have been conducted over the past decades to understand the genetic networks that regulate flower development in angiosperm model species. LÄS MER
18. Population dynamics of the perennial weed species Sonchus arvensis L
Sammanfattning : Sonchus arvensis L. is a perennial weed that is widely prevalent in annual crops in northern Europe and can cause substantial yield losses. The abundance of S. arvensis has increased recently, primarily due to expansion of organic farming and increased use of reduced tillage. LÄS MER
19. Nutrient imbalance in Norway spruce
Sammanfattning : The studies presented in my thesis indicate that growing Norway spruce in monoculture does not constitute sustainable forest management in a high N and S deposition environment, such as in southern Sweden. The combination of N-induced high growth rates and leaching due to soil acidification causes soil reserves of nutrients to decrease. LÄS MER
20. Urban tree establishment : the impact of nursery production systems and assessment methods
Sammanfattning : The aim of this PhD project was to study tree establishment, both how it may be improved in urban areas and how it is measured and defined. The establishment phase of trees is a period of reduced tree vitality, and a successful establishment is crucial for long-term survival and prosperity of newly planted trees. LÄS MER
