  1. 11. Role of mycorrhiza symbiosis and phosphorus nutrition in plant growth, photosynthesis and secondary metabolism

    Författare :Lisa Adolfsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arbuscular mycorrhiza; Plant; Phosphorus; Secondary metabolism; Photosynthesis;

    Sammanfattning : Inorganic phosphorus (Pi) is an important and often limiting nutrient for plants. Large amounts of Pi fertilizers derived from non-renewable rock phosphorus, are used in agriculture. These are applied in excess but crops take up only a small amount of Pi; the residual Pi ends up in water systems where it causes problems with eutrophication. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Associations among early-season root and shoot traits, nutrient use efficiency and grain yield of spring wheat

    Författare :Hui Liu; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Nutrient-efficient and high-yielding spring wheat is needed in high-latitude regions. The aims of this thesis were: (1) to evaluate the effects of soil compaction and differential weather conditions on plant growth and grain yield, (2) to identify critical nutrient elements limiting plant growth and grain yield, and (3) to identify root and shoot traits at an early growth stage (early vigor) influencing nutrient use efficiency and grain yield of spring wheat. 3. 13. Effects of facilitation and competition on oak seedlings : using shrubs as nurse-plants to facilitate growth and reduce browsing from large herbivores

    Författare :Anna M Jensen; Magnus Löf; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Plant–plant interactions have been indicated as a potential means to facilitate oak seedling establishment and reduce herbivory when restoring oak forests. The aim of this thesis was to investigate mechanisms and outcomes of competitive and indirectly facilitative interactions between oak (Quercus robur and Q. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Studies on plant-microbe interaction to improve stress tolerance in plants for sustainable agriculture

    Författare :Shashidar Asari; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Biotic and abiotic stress factors have a major impact on plants and cause extensive losses to crop production. Bacteria that provide growth promotion and prime stress tolerance of plants have great potential to improve crop production and support durable and environmental friendly resource management. 5. 15. Nitrogen nutrition and biomass distribution in conifers : aspects of organic and inorganic nitrogen acquisition

    Författare :Linda Gruffman; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The main objectives of the work presented in this thesis were to increase our understanding of how different chemical forms of nitrogen (N) affect the growth and biomass distribution of conifer seedlings and hence their establishment and performance in field. Growth studies of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris (L.)), Norway spruce (Picea abies (L. LÄS MER
