  1. 1. On the Application of Surface Wave Surveys for Seismic Site Response Evaluation

    Författare :Edwin Obando; Teknisk geologi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Surface wave; MASW; seismic site response; ground motion; seismic transfer functions; shear wave velocity; site amplification; walk-away; near-field effect; dispersion curve.;

    Sammanfattning : In sites where earthquakes occur, the use of surface wave methods represents a convenient and effective procedure for soil characterization. In particular, Multichannel Analysis of Surface Wave (MASW) has become a popular tool in many seismic micro-zoning projects. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Estimating the Air-Water Gas Transfer Velocity during Low Wind Conditions

    Författare :Sam Fredriksson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Air.sea gas exchange; Turbulence; Heat flux; Natural convection; Shear; Direct numerical simulations; Gas transfer velocity; IR; Flux-chambers;

    Sammanfattning : The abundances of atmospheric carbon dioxide, CO2, and methane, CH4, are increasing. These increases affect e.g., the global carbon cycle and the climate both regionally and globally. LÄS MER

    Författare :David Marlevi; Matilda Larsson; Reidar Winter; Massimiliano Colarieti-Tosti; Kathryn Nightingale; KTH; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Medical imaging; Cardiovascular disease; Atherosclerosis; Hemodynamics; Ultrasound; Shear Wave Elastography SWE ; Magnetic Resonance Imaging MRI ; 4D flow MRI; Relative Pressure; Virtual Work-Energy; micro-Computed Tomography micro-CT ; Tomographic reconstruction; Pre-clinical imaging; Medicinsk avbildning; Hjärt-kärlsjukdomar; Ateroskleros; Hemodynamik; Ultraljud; Skjuvvågselastografi SWE ; Magnetresonanstomografi MRI ; 4D flödes-MRI; Tryckfall; Virtuellt flöde; mikro-Datortomografi mikro-CT ; Tomografisk rekonstruktion; Preklinisk avbildning; Medicinsk teknologi; Medical Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Throughout the last century, medical imaging has come to revolutionise the way we diagnose disease, and is today an indispensable part of virtually any clinical practice. In cardiovascular care imaging is extensively utilised, and the development of novel techniques promises refined diagnostic abilities: ultrasound elastography allows for constitutive tissue assessment, 4D flow magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) enables full-field flow mapping, and micro-Computed Tomography (CT) permits high-resolution imaging at pre-clinical level. 4. 4. Assessment of shear and energy‐absorption capacity of reinforced concrete elements under impulsive loads

    Författare :Viktor Peterson; Anders Ansell; Mikael Hallgren; Yanyan Sha; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Impulsive loads; impact; blast; shear reinforcement; shear failure; Betongbyggnad; Concrete Structures;

    Sammanfattning : Impulsive loads have been observed to cause brittle shear failure in reinforced concrete elements designed for ductile failure modes under static loads. Brittle failure modes exhibit poorer energy absorption capabilities compared to ductile flexural failure modes due to their limited deformation capacity, leading to premature failure. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Ultrasonic Methods for 2D Arterial Wall Movement Measurements

    Författare :Magnus Cinthio; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tissue Doppler imaging; Cardiovascular system; Diagnostik; Diagnostics; Kardiovaskulära systemet; arteries; ultrasound; shear stress; axial movement; radial movement; Arterial distension; Arterial lumen diameter; PWV; Arterial longitudinal movement; pulse-wave velocity;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular diseases constitute the major cause of morbidity and mortality in the Western World. To increase our knowledge of cardiovascular diseases, it is important to find methods, preferably non-invasive ones, to study very early manifestations of vascular disease. LÄS MER
