  1. 1. Shear walls for multi-storey timber buildings

    Författare :Johan Vessby; Hilmer Riberholt; Växjö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; multi-storey structures; timber engineering; wind stabilization; shear walls; cross-laminated timber wall panels; fasteners; connections; sheathing; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Wind loads acting on wooden building structures need to be dealt with adequately in order to ensure that neither the serviceability limit state nor the ultimate limit state is exceeded. For the structural designer of tall buildings, avoiding the possibly serious consequences of heavy wind loading while taking account at the same time of the effects of gravitation can be a real challenge. 2. 2. Analysis of shear walls for multi-storey timber buildings

    Författare :Johan Vessby; Bo Källsner; Anders Olsson; Ulf Arne Girhammar; Roberto Crocetti; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; multi-storey structures; timber engineering; wind stabilization; shear walls; cross-laminated timber wall panels; fasteners; sheathing-to-framing connections; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis addresses questions of how wind loads acting on multistoreytimber buildings can be dealt with by structural design of such buildings.The conventional use of sheathing either nailed or screwed to a timberframework is considered, together with other stabilizing structures such ascross-laminated timber panels. 3. 3. Shear in Concrete Structural Elements Subjected to Dynamic Loads

    Författare :Johan Magnusson; Anders Ansell; Mikael Hallgren; Richard Malm; Jaap Weerheijm; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Dynamic load; initial response; shear failure; shear capacity; numerical simulations; bond; shear span; support reactions; Dynamisk last; initial respons; skjuvbrott; skjuvkapacitet; numeriska simuleringar; förankring; skjuvspännvidd; upplagsreaktioner; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Concrete structural elements subjected to severe dynamic loads such as explosions at close range may cause shear failures. In the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 two concrete columns on the ground level were reported to have failed in shear. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Shear walls with double plasterboards : evalutation of design models

    Författare :Tomas Filipsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Steel Structures; Stålbyggnad;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a part of the ECSC-project Development of dry composite construction systems based on steel in residential application that focus on design recommendations for stabilizing buildings by using shear resistance in the walls. The existing design method suggested and used by the Swedish plasterboard manufacturer Gyproc AB is considered as a bit conservative and it does not consider double plasterboards properly. LÄS MER

  5. 5. FRCM-Composites for Strengthening Concrete Walls with Openings : Experimental and Numerical Analysis

    Författare :Cristian Sabau; Björn Täljsten; Thomas Blanksvärd; Gabriel Sas; Cosmin Popescu; Thanasis C. Triantafillou; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; FRCM; reinforced concrete; walls; openings; strenghtening; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Upgrading existing buildings to new functional requirements may require new openings that can weaken the structure, prompting the need for strengthening. In such cases, traditional strengthening solutions, such as creating a reinforced concrete or steel frame around the opening, imply long-term restrictions in the use of the structure. LÄS MER
