11. Kinetic Measurements Using Nanoplasmonic Sensing
Sammanfattning : In this thesis the nanoplasmonic sensing technique was used to study kinetics of (i) the oxidation of Al nanoparticles in air and water and (ii) the solid-liquid phase transition in Sn nanoparticles. The nanoplasmonic sensing technique detects changes of the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) in metal nanoparticles. LÄS MER
12. Partial Discharges at Fast Rising Voltages
Sammanfattning : The present demand for higher efficiency and flexibility in the energy sector has led to an increased use of power electronic generated waveforms as these allow energy conversion between different frequencies including DC. The generated waveforms are usually synthesized by so called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) techniques, where the desired waveform is approximated by a number of square shaped pulses with a short rise time. 13. Removal of ultrafine particles by intermediate air filters in ventilation systems. Evaluation of performance and analysis of applications
Sammanfattning : Epidemiological and toxicological studies demonstrate that ultrafine particles (UFPs) are strongly related with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases and syndromes. One common method to reduce human exposure to particulate air pollution is the use of intermediate class filters (F5-F9 class filters according to EN779:2002). LÄS MER
14. Development and Applications of a General Coupled Thermal-hydraulic/Neutronic Model for the
Sammanfattning : Coupled calculations are important for the simulation of nuclear power plants when there is a strongfeedback between the neutron kineticsand the thermal-hydraulics. A general coupled model of the Ringhals-3 Pressurized Water Reactor has beendeveloped for this purpose. LÄS MER
15. Towards Automatic Image Analysis for Computerised Mammography
Sammanfattning : Mammographic screening is an effective way to detect breast cancer. Early detection of breast cancer depends to a high degree on the adequacy of the mammogram from which the diagnosis is made. Today, most of the analysis of the mammogram is performed by radiologists. LÄS MER
