  1. 6. Phosphorus recovery from sewage sludge fluidized bed gasification processes

    Författare :Thomas Karl Hannl; Marcus Öhman; Matthias Kuba; Nils Skoglund; Flemming Jappe Frandsen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; gasification; sewage sludge; agricultural residues; bed material; fluidized bed; feldspar; ash transformation; potassium; phosphorus; ICP-AES MS; SEM; EDS; XRD; thermodynamic equilibrium modeling; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : One of the most sustainable pathways of sewage sludge treatment in recent years has been thermal conversion. The benefits of thermal treatment of sewage sludge are the recovery of energy or valuable chemical products, the destruction of harmful organic compounds, the separation of heavy metals from the P-rich coarse ash fraction, and the decreased and sanitized ash volume. 2. 7. Fresh Perspectives on the Assessment of Sewage Sludge Management

    Författare :Robin Harder; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; life cycle assessment; biosolids; land application; sewage sludge; pathogen risk; risk assessment; life cycle impact assessment; human toxicity; wastewater; chemical risks;

    Sammanfattning : Sewage sludge management and its role in closing nutrient cycles have received considerable attention in recent years. This thesis quantified phosphorus flows in Gothenburg, Sweden, under current and possible future waste management practices, and aimed to improve the assessment of wastewater and sludge management from an environmental and human health perspective through blending risk assessment (RA) and life cycle assessment (LCA). 3. 8. Flow-oriented studies for environmental management by local authorities : experiences from a regional substance flow analysis

    Författare :Annica Lindqvist-Östblom; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :flow-oriented studies; material flow analysis; substance flow analysis; interpretation; local authorities; regional authorities; environmental management; cadmium; sewage;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the issue of how to perform flow-oriented studies in order to become more useful for and adapted to local/regional authorities. Compared to traditional environmental monitoring and measurement of the state of the environment, flow-oriented studies are an attempt to broaden the approach to environmental concerns. LÄS MER

  4. 9. External Growth Control of Baltic Sea Cyanobacteria

    Författare :Anna Zakrisson; Ulf Larsson; Jakob Walve; Elena Gorokhova; Sanna Suikkanen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Baltic Sea; cyanobacteria; nitrogen fixation; heterocysts; Aphanizomenon; Nodularia; water treatment; Himmerfjärden; sewage; climate; Marine Ecology; marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : In the Himmerfjärden Bay a large excess of nitrogen over phosphorus in the discharge from a large sewage treatment plant (STP) has suppressed growth of diazotrophic cyanobacteria in its inner parts. Implementation of nitrogen removal in the STP in 1997 drastically reduced nitrogen load and triggered growth of diazotrophs, mainly Aphanizomenon sp. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Resource recovery from wastewater treatment: challenges, opportunities and guidance for planning and implementation

    Författare :Mariana Cardoso Chrispim; Miklas Scholz; Marcelo Antunes Nolasco; Jennifer R. McConville; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Circular economy; Resource recovery; Sewage; Planning; Water; Nutrient; Biogas; Developing countries; Urban areas;

    Sammanfattning : Considering the current resources scarcity, Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) should be adapted to become more sustainable. For example, it is possible to recover resources present in municipal wastewater. LÄS MER
