  1. 11. Regulation by glutamate- and adenosine-receptors of dopamine and acetylcholine release from rat striatal slices

    Författare :Shaoyu Jin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :striatum; dopamine; acetylcholine; adenosine receptors; glutamatereceptors. ISBN 91-628-2599-2;

    Sammanfattning : The striatum, which is critically involved in sensory motor integration, receives an excitatory glutamatergic input from the cerebral cortex and the thalamus. The effects of the glutamatergic stimulation are modulated by dopamine (DA) released from a prominent dopaminergic input, acetylcholine (ACh) released from cholinergic interneurons and by the ubiquitous neuromodulator adenosine. 2. 12. Studies on molecular properties and functional regulation of terminal leukotriene C4 synthases and cysteinyl-leukotriene receptor signalling in human endothelium

    Författare :Oliver Schröder; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The transformation of the unstable intermediate leukotriene (LT) A4 into the glutathione conjugate LTC4, the parent compound of LTD4 and LTE4, is catalysed by leukotriene C4 synthase (LTC4S) as well as microsomal glutathione S-transferase type 2 (MGST2) and type 3 (MGST3). Together, these eicosanoids also known as cysteinyl leukotrienes (cys-LT) are key mediators of immediate hypersensitivity reactions. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Spinal cord injury : mechanical and molecular aspects

    Författare :Anna Josephson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Spinal cord; syringomyelia; MRI; fMRI; neurotrophin; Nogo; Nogo receptor; regulation;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic spinal cord injury leads to full or partial paralysis and loss of sensation below the level of injury. The annual incidence of spinal cord injury in the United States is 3-5 per 100,000 and in Sweden is 1.5-2 per 100,000. This translates to 11,000 new cases of traumatic spinal cord injury in the US and 150 in Sweden each year. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Early development of the olfactory placode and early rostrocaudal patterning of the caudal neural tube

    Författare :Esther Maier; Lena Gunhaga; Fernando Giraldez; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; olfactory placode; caudal neural tube; Wnt; FGF; RA; BMP; Notch; patterning; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : The development of the nervous system is a complex process. Cell divisions, cell differentiation and signalling interactions must be tightly regulated. To comprehend the mature nervous system, we have to understand its assembly during development. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Studies on pathophysiology and effects of botulinumtoxin in focal dystonia

    Författare :Tomas Odergren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The pathophysiology of focal dystonia, such as cervical dystonia (CD) and writer's cramp (WR) is far from determined and the development of effective treatment is thus impeded. The dystonia in WR is often action-specific, and most dystonic patients experience an action-induced worsening of the symptoms. LÄS MER
