1. Sensorimotor function in chronic neck pain : objective assessments and a novel method for neck coordination exercise
Sammanfattning : Chronic neck pain is a widespread problem that causes individual suffering as well as large costs for the society. The knowledge about the pathophysiology is poor and therefore specific diagnosis and causal treatment are rare. LÄS MER
2. Sensorimotor function following anterior cruciate ligament injury : movement control, proprioception and neuropsychological perspectives
Sammanfattning : Background: The high incidence of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries in sports suggests an involvement of both biomechanical and neurocognitive risk factors. Athletes are constantly exposed to challenging sports scenarios, which are often characterised by high-intensity movements combined with a multi-stimuli environment and continuous psychological pressure. 3. To grip and not to slip : sensorimotor mechanisms in reactive control of grasp stability
Sammanfattning : The reactive control of fingertip forces maintaining grasp stability was examined in man during a prehensile task. Blindfolded subjects used the precision grip between the tips of index finger and thumb to restrain an object that was subjected to unpredictable load forces. These were delivered tangential to the parallel grip surfaces of the object. LÄS MER
4. Altered movement patterns and deviating muscular activity in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament injury
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to increase the understanding of altered movement patterns in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in order to improve ACL rehabilitation, and to develop an observational instrument termed Test for Substitution Patterns (TSP) for standardized, quantifiable scoring of altered movement patterns in legs and trunk. In all, 142 participants, 93 with ACL-rupture (37 women) and 49 uninjured participants were investigated. LÄS MER
5. Cursed complexity. Computational properties of subcortical neuronal microcircuitry in sensorimotor control
Sammanfattning : One of the big obstacles for understanding the nervous system is its inherent complexity. It poses problems when interpreting both experimental and theoretical studies since we are currently forced to consider only reduced variants of the actual circuitry of the brain. LÄS MER
