  1. 21. Design and Performance of Diversity based Wireless Interfaces for Sensor Network Nodes

    Författare :Magnus Jobs; Anders Rydberg; Shi Cheng; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wireless; Sensor; Network; WSN; Antenna; WISENET; Node; Diversity; Phased Array; Conformal; WBAN; Body Area; Engineering Science with specialization in Microwave Technology; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrovågsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The main focus of the work presented in this licentiate thesis concerns antenna design, adaptive antenna control and investigation on how the performance of small wireless nodes can be increased by inclusion of multiple antennas. In order to provide an end-user suitable solution for wireless nodes the devices require both small form factor and good performance in order to be competitive on the marked and thus the main part of this thesis focuses on techniques developed to achieve these goals. 2. 22. Dynamics of the voltage-sensor domain in voltage-gated ion channels : Studies on helical content and hydrophobic barriers within voltage-sensor domains

    Författare :Christine S. Schwaiger; Erik Lindahl; Lynn Kamerlin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; activation; deactivation; inactivation; voltage-sensor; VSD; Kv1.2- 2.1; F233; hydrophobic barrier; alpha-helix; 3 10 -helix; Biological physics; Biologisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Voltage-gated ion channels play fundamental roles in neural excitability and thus dysfunctional channels can cause disease. Understanding how the voltage-sensor of these channels activate and inactivate could potentially be useful in future drug design of compounds targeting neuronal excitability. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Visual Object Tracking and Classification Using Multiple Sensor Measurements

    Författare :Yixiao Yun; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; sensor fusion; Riemannian manifold; visual pattern classification; multiple view geometry; Visual object tracking; boosting; multiple sensor measurement;

    Sammanfattning : Multiple sensor measurement has gained in popularity for computer vision tasks such as visual object tracking and visual pattern classification. The main idea is that multiple sensors may provide rich and redundant information, due to wide spatial or frequency coverage of the scene, which is advantageous over single sensor measurement in learning object model/feature and inferring target state/attribute in complex scenarios. 4. 24. Development and Implementation of a Wireless Sensor Network for Volcanic Gas Emission Monitoring

    Författare :Yan Zhang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NOVAC; gas emission; sensor; embedded PC; volcano; DOAS; spectroscopy; SO2; network;

    Sammanfattning : Volcanic eruptions have great impacts on the life of the inhabitants in the surrounding areas and even to the global climate. Around 15-21×10 Tg/yr SO2 are injected to the troposphere and the stratosphere by the active volcanoes in the world[Halmer et al., 2002]. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Sensor Networks and Their Radio Environment : On Testbeds, Interference, and Broken Packets

    Författare :Frederik Hermans; Per Gunningberg; Edith Ngai; Andreas Terzis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sensor networks; Testbed; Mobility; Interference classification; Packet corruption; Computer Science with specialization in Computer Communication; Datavetenskap med inriktning mot datorkommunikation;

    Sammanfattning : Sensor networks consist of small sensing devices that collaboratively fulfill a sensing task, such as monitoring the soil in an agricultural field or measuring vital signs in a marathon runner. To avoid cumbersome and expensive cabling, nodes in a sensor network are powered by batteries and communicate wirelessly. LÄS MER
