Sammanfattning : This study is intended to provide new insight into the change and stability of lexical fields by means of a new theoretical model for the identification, description and interpretation of the mechanisms of lexical and semantic change.The first part of the study is a detailed investigation of the origin and innovation of the nouns within the lexical field ‘watercourse’ in order to be able to account for the patterns of creation, especially in relation to the current status of the nouns. Sammanfattning : This study investigates how medical researchers engage with a background of prior and anticipated utterances in a collection of highly cited English-language medical research articles. Taking a multisemiotic, systemic-functional approach, I examine the verbal, visual, and mathematical resources used by medical research writers to construe, engage with, and position themselves in relation to a dialogic background of different voices, positions, and propositions. Sammanfattning : Based on current results produced in modern cognitive linguistics this study examines linguistic evidence derived from the experiential field ,labor4 in German and Swedish in order to formulate a theory which more closely describes the relationship between semantic and conceptual structure in lexical concepts. Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates how the Swedish lexicon is structured with respect to sound symbolism, the productivity of phonesthemes and cross language similarities in certain areas of sound symbolism.
