1. Regulating a Controversy : Inside Stakeholder Strategies and Regime Transition in the Self-Regulation of Swedish Advertising 1950–1971
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the development of the self-regulation of advertising in Sweden from 1950 until 1971. Self-regulation was initiated in the 1930s due to a business desire to regulate fair competition in marketing, and while it initially was a minor operation, the 1950s and 1960s were characterized by extensive development. Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis has been to examine outdoor activities and camping, framed within the Scandinavian notion of friluftsliv, as methods for promoting citizenship in two Swedish youth organisations: the Scout movement and Unga Örnar (“Young Eagles”). What knowledge and abilities characterised ideal citizenship; how was instruction in citzenship for children conducted and more specifically, how were nature and friluftsliv employed as resources to accomplish training for citizens? The results of this study show that friluftsliv as an educational method in these organisations, most notably in the Scout organisations, reflected ideas about active citizenship understood as civic, everyday practice. Sammanfattning : This dissertation deals with the different functions of the Swedish Brewers Association: political defence against reductions in the free trade in beer and taxation of the brewing industry, defence against strikes and boycotts, and the making of a nation-wide cartel. The breakthroug of temperance ideology, the fiscal needs of the state and the growth of the socialist labour movement threatened the property interests of the brewing industry. LÄS MER
4. Rule-Making in the Transnational Space : The Development of European Accreditation of Management Education
Sammanfattning : The thesis deals with the emergence in the area of management education of a European accreditation system known as the European Quality Improvement System, or EQUIS, and with the subsequent spread if this system. Answers are sought as to why and how the system was launched, and why it made such an impact in Europe. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : The aim of the dissertation is to study the problem definitions and the governmental rationality of new activities aimed at reforming criminals, the poor and workers in Sweden during the mid-1800s. Three case studies analyse the solitary confinement penitentiary, the district visiting poor relief and the bildung-society for workers. LÄS MER
