  1. 1. Biological Aspects of Peripartum Depression

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Åsa Edvinsson; Uppsala universitet.; [2019]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Peripartum depression; antenatal depression; postpartum depression; antidepressant treatment; selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor; SSRI; pregnancy; postpartum; attentional bias; Emotional Stroop Task; inflammatory markers; proximity extension assay; placenta; gene expression; TaqMan low-density array; protein expression; immunohistochemistry; HTR1A; NPY2R;

    Sammanfattning : Peripartum depression affects around 12% of women in pregnancy and postpartum, and about 2–3% of European pregnant women use antidepressants, mostly selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). An increased risk of poor pregnancy outcomes has been described in women with antenatal depression and SSRI treatment during pregnancy. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in the General Population

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Örjan Frans; Uppsala universitet.; [2003]
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; posttraumatic stress disorder; trauma; epidemiology; general population; prevalence; traffic road accidents; DSM-structure; positron emission tomography; regional cerebral blood flow; symptom provocation; selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor; Psykologi; SOCIAL SCIENCES Social sciences Psychology; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP Socialvetenskap Psykologi; klinisk psykologi; Clinical Psychology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explored the epidemiology of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and different aspects of the disorder. Firstly, we investigated the lifetime prevalence of traumatic experiences and PTSD in the general adult population in Sweden and evaluated the impact of different trauma types, trauma frequency, and perceived distress. 3. 3. From achiral to chiral analysis of citalopram

    Detta är en avhandling från Linköping : Linköping University Electronic Press

    Författare :Björn Carlsson; Linköpings universitet.; Linköpings universitet.; Östergötlands Läns Landsting.; [2003]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; depression; noradrenaline; dopamine; serotonin; citalopram; selective serotonin-reuptake inhibitor SSRI ; high-performance liquid chromatography HPLC ; therapeutic drug monitoring TDM ; enantioselective separation; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Within the field of depression the “monoamine hypothesis” has been the leading theory to explain the biological basis of depression. This theory proposes that the biological basis of depression is due to a deficiency in one or more of three key neurotransmitter systems, namely noradrenaline, dopamine and serotonin which are thought to mediate the therapeutic actions of virtually every known antidepressant agent. 4. 4. Stress system function in abdominal obesity. The hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and the sympathetic nervous system in middle-aged men

    Detta är en avhandling från Linköping : Linköping University Electronic Press

    Författare :Thomas Ljung; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2001]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Abdominal obesity; stress; HPA axis; cortisol; glucocorticoid receptors; sympathetic nervous system; catecholamines; depression; SSRI;

    Sammanfattning : Background: There is a strong relationship between central (abdominal, visceral) obesity, impaired glucose tolerance, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia and elevated blood pressure. These abnormalities are included in the term Metabolic Syndrome, and indicate an elevated risk for cardiovascular disease and diabetes type 2. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Effect of pharmacological treatment of serotonergic function in depression

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Clinical Neuroscience

    Författare :Aram El Khoury; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2002]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Sertonin depression; platelets; HPA-axis; intracellular calcium; lithium; SSRI NRI;

    Sammanfattning : Since its identification in raphe neurons of the central nervous system (CNS), the biogenic amine serotonin (5- hydroxytryptamin, 5-HT) has been implicated in the etiology and pathophysiology of affective disorders, such as depression. It has been proposed that enhancement of central serotonergic transmission may underlie the therapeutic response to different types of antidepressant drugs. LÄS MER
