  1. 1. On the Effects of Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors in Major Depression

    Författare :Fredrik Hieronymus; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; antidepressants; antidepressive agents; depression; major depressive disorder; selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor; SNRI; SSRI;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the antidepressant effects of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and how these are reflected by the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS). To this end, we have assembled a large data set of placebo-controlled SSRI trials in major depression, and used this for a series of post-hoc patient-level analyses. LÄS MER

  2. 2. On the efficacy and prescription of serotonin reuptake inhibitors

    Författare :Alexander Lisinski; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; antidepressants; antidepressive agents; major depressive disorder; selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor; serotonin and noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor; tricyclic antidepressant;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses several controversial issues regarding commonly used antidepressants, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), serotonin and noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), and tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs). To this end, patient-level data from 28 placebo-controlled trials on SSRIs and 13 corresponding trials on the SNRI duloxetine, were requested and obtained. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Biological Aspects of Peripartum Depression

    Författare :Åsa Edvinsson; Inger Sundström Poromaa; Helena Åkerud; Jocelien Olivier; Charlotte Hellgren; Isis Amer-Wåhlin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Peripartum depression; antenatal depression; postpartum depression; antidepressant treatment; selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor; SSRI; pregnancy; postpartum; attentional bias; Emotional Stroop Task; inflammatory markers; proximity extension assay; placenta; gene expression; TaqMan low-density array; protein expression; immunohistochemistry; HTR1A; NPY2R;

    Sammanfattning : Peripartum depression affects around 12% of women in pregnancy and postpartum, and about 2–3% of European pregnant women use antidepressants, mostly selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). An increased risk of poor pregnancy outcomes has been described in women with antenatal depression and SSRI treatment during pregnancy. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in the General Population

    Författare :Örjan Frans; Mats Fredrikson; Hans Ågren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; posttraumatic stress disorder; trauma; epidemiology; general population; prevalence; traffic road accidents; DSM-structure; positron emission tomography; regional cerebral blood flow; symptom provocation; selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi; klinisk psykologi; Clinical Psychology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explored the epidemiology of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and different aspects of the disorder. Firstly, we investigated the lifetime prevalence of traumatic experiences and PTSD in the general adult population in Sweden and evaluated the impact of different trauma types, trauma frequency, and perceived distress. 5. 5. Drug repositioning in chemoprevention of colorectal cancer

    Författare :Naiqi Zhang; Allmänmedicin och klinisk epidemiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Drug repositioning; Colorectal cancer CRC ; Pharmacoepidemiology; Chemoprevention; Melatonin; Proguanil; Atovaquone; Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor SSRI ;

    Sammanfattning : BackgroundColorectal cancer (CRC) ranks as the third most frequently occurring cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. In response to the high demand for an effective prevention strategy, chemoprevention, using medications to block the pathogenetic pathways of disease, might be an attractive strategy to offer a more effective option at a low cost.
