21. New Methods in the growth of InP on Si and Regrowth of Semi-insulating InP for Photonic Devices
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses new methods in the growth of indium phosphide on silicon for enabling silicon photonics and nano photonics as well as efficient and cost-effective solar cells. It also addresses the renewal of regrowth of semi-insulating indium phosphide for realizing buried heterostructure quantum cascade lasers with high power and wall plug efficiency for sensing applications. 22. Minimally Invasive Catheter-Based Technologies
Sammanfattning : A simple incision procedure in a blood vessel makes the entire vascular system accessible. Through contrast injection and X-ray visualization, the vascular tree can be mapped and navigated through manual manipulation of thin tubes and wires. LÄS MER
23. Design and Analysis of Nonmagnetic Specular Radar Absorbing Materials
Sammanfattning : The design and analysis of specular radar absorbing materials are investigated throughout the dissertation. Although the topic has been investigated for more than 60 years by many researchers and numerous designs have been proposed, still many technical challenges are remained unanswered. The basic questions are, e.g. LÄS MER
24. Quantified In Situ Analysis of Initial Atmospheric Corrosion : Surface heterogeneity, galvanic effects and corrosion product distribution on zinc, brass and Galvalume
Sammanfattning : The interaction of the surface of a pure metal or an alloy with the surrounding atmosphere occurs in a highly complex interfacial regime. During atmospheric corrosion this interfacial regime involves the metal surface, often covered by a naturally formed oxide layer of a few nanometers thickness; an aqueous adlayer, typically with a thickness of a few to a few tens of nanometers, and the atmosphere from which airborne particles, oxygen, and gaseous pollutants dissolve into the adlayer and influence the atmospheric corrosion process. 25. Arsenic (V) adsorption on iron oxide : implications for soil remedeation and water purification
Sammanfattning : Addition of iron oxide based adsorbents to arsenic contaminated soils has been proposed as a mean to reduce the mobility of arsenic in the soil. However, the conditions in the soil such as pH value, the presence of phosphate after addition of fertilizer to the soil or the presence of Zn (II) as a co-contaminant may affect the adsorption of arsenate on the iron oxide and may therefore have implications for the mobility of arsenic in the remediated soil.
