21. Regeneration and early management of birch and Norway spruce mixtures in Southern Sweden
Sammanfattning : Regeneration involving birch and Norway spruce is the most common mixture on clearcuts in southern Sweden. Sometimes the mixture is unintentional, and the naturally regenerated birch is often regarded as a weed-species in planted Norway spruce monocultures. LÄS MER
22. Seed production and natural regeneration of beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) in southern Sweden
Sammanfattning : When mature beech forests are harvested, the new regeneration is established by natural regeneration, which is by using the seeds from the old stand to create the new generation. Most often the seed from a single mast year is used preceded by site preparation. LÄS MER
23. Plant ecological studies related to restoration of a degraded ecosystem in central Tanzania
Sammanfattning : Kondoa Irangi area is among the most degraded ecosystems in Central Tanzania as a result of heavygrazing, fire, collection of fuelwood and improper cultivation practices. The restoration process of thisdegraded ecosystem through natural regeneration is slowed by the semi-arid climate of the area combinedwith poor soil nutrient status. LÄS MER
24. Secondary succession in tropical dry forests : drivers and mechanisms of forest regeneration
Sammanfattning : Secondary succession is a complex process involving numerous factors acting across scales. Understanding secondary succession in tropical dry forests is important for the conservation and restoration of this highly threatened biome. LÄS MER
25. Ecology and evolution of local adaptation in Arabidopsis thaliana
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I investigate the ecological genetics of local adaptation in the annual herb Arabidopsis thaliana with the aim to identify key traits, agents of selection, and genomic regions contributing to adaptive differentiation. The thesis focuses on adaptive differentiation in timing of germination and seed dormancy between populations located close to the southern and northern range margins in Europe. LÄS MER
