  1. 1. Studies on the regulation of the Napin napA promoter by ABI3, bZIP and bHLH transcription factors

    Författare :Nathalie Martin; Lars Rask; Ines Ezcurra; Olof Olsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Molecular biology; transcription gene regulation; plant seed maturation; seed storage protein; ABA; ABI3; bZIP; bHLH; Brassica napus; Molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The B3-domain transcription factor ABI3 is a major regulator of gene expression of seed maturation during Arabidopsis embryogenesis. The napA gene encodes for a Brassica napus 2S storage protein specifically expressed in the embryo during the early and mid-maturation phase (MAT program). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Bioanalysis using capillary electrophoresis and mass spectrometry : Applied on proteins, protein nanofibrils and polyvinyl alcohol microbubbles

    Författare :Leila Josefsson; Åsa Emmer; Ulrika Nilsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; : amyloid; capillary electrophoresis; contrast agents; detection; human blood plasma; ionic liquids; mass spectrometry; microbubbles; polyvinyl alcohol microbubbles; protein nanofibrils; proteins; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The sequencing of the genome of various species, including the human species, have led to increased understanding about how a protein structure is generated, and how specific structures are related to the proteins’ functionality. In paper I and II of this thesis, the folding of proteins in vitro to form hierarchical nanostructures, which in vivo often have a pathological effect, have been studied. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Coagulant Protein from plant materials: Potential Water Treatment Agent

    Författare :Ida Bodlund; Gunaratna Kuttuva Rajarao; Anna Norström; Andres Veide; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; antimicrobial effect; Brassica; coagulant protein; MO2.1; Moringa oleifera; Mustard; napin; thermo-resistance; plant material; protein extraction; salt extract.;

    Sammanfattning : Access to fresh water is a human right, yet more than 780 million people, especially in rural areas, rely on unimproved sources and the need for finding ways of treating water is crucial. Although the use of natural coagulant protein in drinking water treatment has been discussed for a long time, the method is still not in practice, probably due to availability of material and limited knowledge. 4. 4. Dissecting the gene regulatory networks behind carbon allocation in plants : ex situ studies on combinatorial and subdomains effects of seed transcription factors

    Författare :Per Snell; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Plants store excess energy and metabolites derived from photosynthesis in a variety of storage compounds with starch, protein and triacyglycerol (oil, TAG) being the most common. As humans, we are completely dependent on these compounds either directly as food or indirectly, as materials for large number of goods or feed for animals. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Crystallographic studies of enzymes involved in biosynthesis of fatty acids : beta-ketoacyl-acyl carrier protein synthase II and delta9-stearoyl-ACP desaturase

    Författare :Martin Moche; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In the biosynthesis of fatty acids, the beta-Ketoacyl Acyl Carrier Protein Synthases (Kas) catalyse chain elongation by the addition of two-carbon units derived from malonyl-ACP, to an acyl group bound to CoA or the small protein ACP. These enzymes are potential targets for antibiotics against bacterial or parasitical infections and their mammalian counterparts could hopefully be used as drug targets against certain cancers and obesity.
