6. Evolutionary and Ecological Effects of Metal Pollution on Coastal Diatoms
Sammanfattning : Oceans are changing rapidly in response to human activities, such as toxic pollution, eutrophication, and climate change. Diatoms are major primary producers in the oceans with short generation times, flexible reproductive strategies, and high standing genetic diversity. LÄS MER
7. The lower and middle Cambrian of Sweden: trilobites, biostratigraphy and intercontinental correlation
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on studies of Cambrian successions in Sweden, with particular focus on the middle Cambrian biostratigraphy and its correlative relationship to the proposed global agnostoid zonation. The investigated material, mainly trilobites, was collected from both outcrops and drill cores from five provinces in Sweden: Skåne (Scania), Öland, Västergötland, Jämtland and Lapland. LÄS MER
8. Stratigraphy and Geochemistry of the Palaeoproterozoic Dannemora inlier, north-eastern Bergslagen region, central Sweden
Sammanfattning : The Palaeoproterozoic Dannemora inlier is situated in the north-eastern Bergslagen region. The inlier consists of primary and reworked volcanic deposits, stromatolitic limestone and skarn that have been subjected to upper greenschist facies metamorphism. LÄS MER
9. Silurian Carbonate Platforms of Gotland, Sweden - Archives of Local, Regional and Global Environmental Changes
Sammanfattning : This thesis treats the Silurian carbonate platforms of Gotland, Sweden, which formed close to the equator within the East Baltic Basin. Three different time intervals, all involving changes in facies composition and structure of the platforms, have been studied; Late Homerian, latest Homerian ? earliest Gorstian, and late Ludfordian, respectively. 10. Contaminant transport in non-uniform streams and streambeds
Sammanfattning : The interplay between hydraulic and chemical processes in streams and adjacent storage zones, e.g. streambed sediments, is of crucial importance for the large-scale transport of released contaminants. This thesis presents a methodology for tracer experiments and the development of mechanistic transport models. LÄS MER
