1. Systems Analysis of the Protein Secretory Pathway in Yeast and Human Cells
Sammanfattning : The cell was discovered by Robert Hooke in 1665, later in nineteen century the cell theory was developed as all organisms are composed of one or more cells. Since then, many tools and experimental methods have been developed to dissect and characterize the cell components which resulted in established solid scientific fields such as biochemistry, molecular cell biology and genetics. 2. Immunofluorescence Investigation on Neuroendocrine Secretory Protein 55 (NESP55) in Nervous Tissues
Sammanfattning : The chromogranin family is a group of acidic, soluble, and heat-stable proteins widespread in various neuronal, neuroendocrine and endocrine tissues, where they are subcellullarly located in the secretory granules, participating in the formation of the granules. Extracellularly, chromogranins may act as protein precursors, proteolytically processed to various small bioactive peptides. LÄS MER
3. Sorting and processing of neutrophil granule proteins
Sammanfattning : The neutrophil granulocytes have a critical role in innate immunity in particular through phagocytosis of microorganisms. Their cytoplasmic granule subsets store digestive enzymes and antibiotic proteins that are released during this event. LÄS MER
4. Metabolic Engineering of Recombinant Protein Production by Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Sammanfattning : The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae is a widely used cell factory for the production of fuels, chemicals, and it also provides a platform for the production of many heterologous proteins of medical or industrial interest. In this thesis, random and rational approaches, such as vector design, host engineering, fermentation analysis, UV Mutation, coupled with high-throughput systems biology techniques (including whole genomic sequencing, microarray analysis and flux analysis) and integrated analysis (Reporter feature technique), were employed to engineer cellular properties more effectively and purposefully to construct cell factories for protein production. 5. Mechanisms for Targeting of Proteins to Secretory Lysosomes of Haematopoietic Cells
Sammanfattning : The cells of the innate immune system are essential for the host's first line defence against infection. Among these cells the neutrophil granulocyte has a central role by the production of antibiotic proteins and peptides. LÄS MER
