  1. 1. Secondary absorbed dose distributions and radiation quality in light ion therapy

    Författare :Martha Hultqvist; Irena Gudowska; Tatsuhiko Sato; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; secondary doses; light ion therapy; radiation quality; Monte Carlo simulation; Medical Radiation Physics; medicinsk strålningsfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Radiotherapy with light ions offers the possibility of achieving a dose distribution which is highly conformed to the target volume while sparing normal tissues. For ions heavier than protons, an additional advantage is the increased Relative Biological Effectiveness (RBE) as compared to conventional photon and electron beams. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Gadodiamide injection for Enhancement of MRI in the CNS. Applications, dose, field and time dependence

    Författare :Per Åkeson; Malmö Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; Phantom study.; Comparative study; Human; Time dependence; Dosage; Enhancement; Gadolinium; MRI contrast media; Contrast media; Magnetic resonance imaging; Spine; Brain neoplasms; secondary; Brain; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Sammanfattning : Aims of the study The aims of this study using Gadodiamide injection were to investigate: · Whether Gadodiamide injection was comparable to Gd-DTPA for the enhancement of CNS lesions. · The contrast effect at different field strengths. · The effective time-window for the enhancement of blood-brain barrier damage. 3. 3. Secondary doses to healthy tissues from radiotherapy and modern imaging techniques

    Författare :Oscar Ardenfors; Irena Gudowska; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The use of ionizing radiation for treatment of cancer diseases is continuously increasing giving rise to several new questions and concerns. One of the most important aspects of this is the associated dose imparted to healthy tissues. This unwanted dose contribution is a result of both radiotherapy procedures and diagnostic imaging. 4. 4. Out-of-field doses from proton therapy and doses from CBCT imaging : Risk of radiation-induced second cancer from modern radiotherapy

    Författare :Oscar Ardenfors; Irena Gudowska; Alexandru Dasu; Cathrine Jonsson; Pawel Olko; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Medical Radiation Physics; medicinsk strålningsfysik;

    Sammanfattning : The use of ionizing radiation for treatment of cancer diseases is continuously increasing as patient survival is improving and new treatment techniques are emerging. While this development is beneficial for curing primary tumors, concerns have been raised regarding the unwanted dose contribution to healthy tissues of patients and the associated risk of radiation-induced second cancer (RISC). 5. 5. Pharmacoepidemiologic Studies of Diabetes Mellitus - with special reference to - Glucose Control and Prognosis of Type 2 Diabetes

    Författare :Jonny Olsson; Samhällsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; diabetology; secreting systems; Endocrinology; cohort study; longitudinal study; cross-sectional study; mortality; diabetes mellitus; Pharmacoepidemiology; prevalence; type 2 diabetes; diabetes costs; short-term sick-leave; premature retirement; production losses; inpatient care; glycaemic control; fasting blood glucose; oral antihyperglycaemic agents; sulphonylurea; metformin; insulin; combination treatment; drug utilization; prescribed daily doses; safety; effectiveness; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : The efficacy and safety of antihyperglycaemic drugs have been evaluated in one American and one British randomized clinical trial, which have given contradictory results. The positive results of the latter may be more convincing as it included a greater number of patients and as its duration was longer. LÄS MER
