21. Patterns of fish larvae and zooplankton distribution in mangrove-seagrass seascapes of East Africa
Sammanfattning : Mangroves and seagrass meadows create coastal seascapes acting as breeding and nursery grounds for many fish species in tropical areas. Despite increased awareness on the role of these coastal habitats to fish, less knowledge is given to fish larvae distribution and population dynamics, limiting the understanding of major drivers of fish population dynamics and fisheries resources management, particularly in understudied regions such as the Western Indian Ocean. 22. Emission of methane from northern lakes and ponds
Sammanfattning : Northern lakes and ponds are abundant and emit large amounts of the potent climate forcer methane to the atmosphere at rates prone to change with amplified Arctic warming. In spite of being important, fluxes from surface waters are not well understood. LÄS MER
23. Removal of wastewater nitrogen in a wetland filter
Sammanfattning : An artificial wetland system, designed to achieve year-round wastewater treatment concomitantly with nutrient recycling, was studied for three years. As part of a joint research project, this thesis focuses on nitrogen transformations and nitrogen removal capacity. LÄS MER
