  1. 1. Seasonal variation and landscape regulation of dissolved organic carbon concentrations and character in Swedish boreal streams

    Författare :Anneli Ågren; Mats Jansson; Irena Creed; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DOC; temporal variation; spatial variation; seasonal variation; forested catchment; wetland catchment; catchment characteristics; DOC characteristics; absorbance-ratio; bioavailability.; Physical geography; Naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : The seasonal variation and landscape regulation of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) concentrations in streams have been studied in two watersheds in the boreal zone. The seasonal variation was found to be highly correlated to variations in runoff. An increase in runoff was always accompanied with an increase in DOC concentration. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Hydrogeochemistry and spatial variability of arsenic and other trace elements in the Lower Katari Basin around Lake Titicaca, Bolivian Altiplano. : Impact on drinking water quality and groundwater management

    Författare :Israel Quino Lima; Prosun Bhattacharya; Jerker Jarsjö; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arsenic; trace elements; multivariate analysis; spatial variability; hydrogeology; spatio-temporal variability; Lower Katari Basin; Bolivian Altiplano; alluvial sediments; Arsenik; spårelement; multivariat analys; rumslig variabilitet; hydrogeologi; spatio-temporär variation; Nedre Katari-bassängen; Bolivian Altiplano; alluviala sediment; Land and Water Resources Engineering; Mark- och vattenteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Arsenic (As) contamination in drinking water is a world-wide problem. Thenatural origin of As, its mobility and transport are of great interest in BolivianAltiplano (Lower Katari Basin: LKB and Sothern Poopó Basin: SPB) due topresence of mineral ore deposits, brines, hot springs and volcanic rocks. 3. 3. Mercury cycling in the global marine environment

    Författare :Michelle Nerentorp; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; sea ice; air; seasonal and spatial variation; snow; Mercury cycling; seawater; mercury flux;

    Sammanfattning : Mercury is a globally distributed contaminant that exists in the atmosphere in its elemental form as a stable monoatomic gas. Having a residence time of around one year in air allows it to be transported far from emission sources and end up in polar ecosystems. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Monitoring transport and fate of de-icing salt in the roadside environment : Modelling and field measurements

    Författare :Annika Lundmark; Per-Erik Jansson; Bo Olofsson; Ann-Catrine Norrström; Helen K. French; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chloride; De-icing salt; Groundwater; Modelling; Monitoring; Road; Roadside; Soil water; Water in nature and society; Vatten i natur och samhälle;

    Sammanfattning : Roads and traffic are a major non-point source of pollutants and may have severe impacts on surface water, groundwater, soil and vegetation. In cold climates, de-icing salt is one such pollutant that may cause increased chloride concentrations and induce other effects on the environment. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Carbon stock and fluxes in Nyungwe forest and Ruhande Arboretum in Rwanda

    Författare :Donat Nsabimana; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbon stock; Litterfall production; Soil CO2 efflux; or soil respiration; Soil temperature; Soil water content; Spatial variation; Seasonal and diurnal variations;

    Sammanfattning : Conservation and sequestration of carbon in forest ecosystems are potential strategies to reduce or stabilize the atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations and mitigate climate change. Estimating the... LÄS MER
