11. Inverse modelling of GNSS multipath signals
Sammanfattning : Measuring the world around us is necessary to observe and understand the changes that occur in our environment. A widely distributed network of measurement stations can help us to understand ongoing and predict future climate change. LÄS MER
12. Environmental history in southern Mozambique : Reconstruction of flooding events, hydroclimate and sea-level dynamics since mid-Holocene
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis has been to reconstruct paleoenvironment, paleohydrology and paleoclimate in coastal southern Mozambique, with emphasis on tracing past flooding events on the lower Limpopo River floodplain. In order to extend flood chronologies beyond periods covered by instrumental data, sediments from lakes on the floodplain were studied (Lake Lungué, Coassane Oxbow, Lake Magandane and Lake Soane). 14. Wind and atmospheric stability characteristics over the Baltic Sea
Sammanfattning : In recent years there has been an increase in offshore wind energy, which poses the need for accurate wind speed estimates in the marine environment, especially in coastal areas where most wind turbines will be placed. This thesis is focused on the Baltic Sea, which is a small, semi-enclosed sea where land-sea interaction play an important role in explaining the wind patterns. LÄS MER
15. Managing sea cucumber fisheries and aquaculture : Studies of social-ecological systems in the Western Indian Ocean
Sammanfattning : Collecting sea cucumbers to supply the high value Chinese dried seafood market is a livelihood activity available to many people in the Western Indian Ocean (WIO), making it an important part of local economies. These fisheries are generally not successfully managed and tropical sea cucumber fisheries show continuing signs of decline. LÄS MER
