  1. 6. Spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar for Sea Ice Observations, Concentration and Dynamics

    Författare :Anders Berg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; synthetic aperture radar; interferometry; satellite; sea ice dynamics; sea ice monitoring; sea ice concentration;

    Sammanfattning : Spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is the primary choice for sea ice monitoring due to its all-weather, day-and-night capability and regular delivery of high resolution images. This thesis presents methods for estimation of sea ice concentration and drift, a multi-sensor study of Baltic Sea ice radar signatures and an interferometric study of landfast sea ice. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Biogenic Halocarbons in Polar Sea Ice

    Författare :Anna Granfors; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Volatile biogenic halocarbons; Sea ice; Antarctica; ice-air flux; gases;

    Sammanfattning : Sea ice is to date a rather poorly investigated part of the cycling of volatile halogenated organic compounds, halocarbons. These compounds are natural sources of reactive iodine and bromine to the atmosphere, and are produced in the marine environment. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Ocean Climate Variability over Recent Centuries Explored by Modelling the Baltic Sea

    Författare :Daniel Hansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Baltic Sea; ocean climate; modelling; reconsstruction; water temperature; sea ice; river runoff; salinity; oxygen concentration; long-term;

    Sammanfattning : Natural variability and anthropogenic factors both contribute to changes in the ocean climate of the Baltic Sea. Observations over the past century indicate that changes in environmental settings and ocean climate have taken place, attracting considerable media attention and building public awareness of climate and environmental issues related to the Baltic Sea. 4. 9. Sea Ice and Ocean Environmental Applications of Spaceborn SAR

    Författare :Sverre Thune Dokken; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Radarsat; SSM I; ERS-1 2; ocean applications; sea ice applications; numerical models; SAR; Arctic Ocean; Envisat; climate change;

    Sammanfattning : The worldwide focus on our changing environment has led to an increased need to observe and characterise a range of environmental phenomena. The Arctic Ocean is particularly sensitive to climate variations. LÄS MER

  5. 10. On Biogenic Halocarbons in Antarctic Waters

    Författare :Erik Mattsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Volatile biogenic halocarbons; Antarctica; Southern Ocean; Sea ice; Snow; Air-sea exchange;

    Sammanfattning : Little is known regarding the distribution of naturally produced volatile halogenated organic compounds, halocarbons, in Antarctic waters and the contribution of these waters to the global atmospheric load of halogens. In the atmosphere, halocarbons are degraded by photolysis, and form reactive halogen radicals. LÄS MER
