   Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis has been to examine outdoor activities and camping, framed within the Scandinavian notion of friluftsliv, as methods for promoting citizenship in two Swedish youth organisations: the Scout movement and Unga Örnar (“Young Eagles”). What knowledge and abilities characterised ideal citizenship; how was instruction in citzenship for children conducted and more specifically, how were nature and friluftsliv employed as resources to accomplish training for citizens? The results of this study show that friluftsliv as an educational method in these organisations, most notably in the Scout organisations, reflected ideas about active citizenship understood as civic, everyday practice.    Sammanfattning : The Well-Situated Girl is the first academic study of the history of Swedish Girl Scouting. Through a qualitative and interpretive method, which has its methodological home in the hermeneutic tradition, and with theoretical inspiration from Simone de Beauvoir’s work The Second Sex the aim of the thesis is to conceptualize Girl Scouting as girls’ and women’s history.    Sammanfattning : Since the opening of formerly closed markets in Eastern Europe and China in the early 1990s, numerous firms have sought to capture the growth opportunities prevailing in the virgin but institutionally distant business networks in these countries.
