  1. 1. Risk Prediction at the Emergency Department

    Författare :Thomas Olsson; Lars Lind; Andreas Terént; Bengt Widgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; scoring system; mortality; cohort; prospective; Emergency Department; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : The severity of illness was scored in a cohort of 11751 non-surgical patients presenting at the Emergency Department (ED) during 12 consecutive months and followed for 4.7 years. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Consensus Algorithms for Trees and Strings

    Författare :Jesper Jansson; Institutionen för datavetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; numerical analysis; computational complexity; Approximation algorithm; labeled tree; lowest common ancestor constraint; maximum agreement subtree; alignment between trees; clustering; Computer science; Hamming metric; systems; control; Datalogi; numerisk analys; system; kontroll;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis studies the computational complexity and polynomial-time approximability of a number of discrete combinatorial optimization problems involving labeled trees and strings. The problems considered have applications to computational molecular biology, pattern matching, and many other areas of computer science. LÄS MER

  3. 3. ICU prognostication: Time to re-evaluate? Register-based studies on improving prognostication for patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU)

    Författare :Peder Andersson; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Intensive Care; Critical Care; Mortality; Cerebral Performance Category; Cardiac arrest; Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest; Sepsis; Lactate; Troponin; Neuron-specific enolase; Neurofilament light; Age; Elderly; Prognostication; Prediction; Scoring system; Neural net; Artificial neural network; Deep learning; Artificial intelligence;

    Sammanfattning : Background: ICU prognostication is difficult because of patients’ prior comorbidities and their varied reasons for admission. The model used for ICU prognostication in Sweden is the Simplified Acute Physiology Score 3 (SAPS 3), which uses information gathered within one hour of ICU admission to predict 30-day mortality. 4. 4. Cervical dysplasia and cervical cancer in pregnancy: diagnosis and outcome

    Författare :Cecilia Kärrberg; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cervical dysplasia; cervical cancer; pregnancy; colposcopic scoring system; regression; persistence; progression; HPV DNA test; HPV mRNA E6 E7 test; p16INK4a;

    Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT:Cervical cancer is one of the most common types of cancer that is diagnosed during pregnancy. The primary aim in investigation of atypical cervical cytology during pregnancy is to exclude cancer so that further treatment of the lesion can be postponed until after delivery. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Tomosynthesis in pulmonary cystic fibrosis

    Författare :Kristina Vult von Steyern; Lund Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cystic fibrosis; Lung; Radiation dose; Radiography; Scoring methods; Tomography; spiral computed; X-ray computed;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this thesis were to investigate whether chest tomosynthesis might be used in pulmonary cystic fibrosis, to design and validate a tomosynthesis scoring system, and to determine the effective dose from chest tomosynthesis in children. In a prospective study starting in 2008 clinical chest radiography or computed tomography (CT) were supplemented with a tomosynthesis examination of the lungs. LÄS MER
