11. Sensory quality of tomato, carrot and wheat : Influences of growing systems
Sammanfattning : The sensory variation in products, conventionally and ecologically grown has been described and the effect of sensory training on the reliability of the assessors has been evaluated.Ecologically grown tomatoes scored higher for sweetness while conventionally grown tomatoes scored higher for firmness. 12. Felling Forests from Afar: Quantifying Deforestation Driven by Agricultural Expansion and International Trade
Sammanfattning : Deforestation is a major source of human-caused greenhouse gas emissions and the largest threat to terrestrial biodiversity. Most forest loss is due to the expansion of agricultural land use increasingly driven by international demand for food, fuel and fibre. LÄS MER
13. Ecology of fungal denitrifiers in terrestrial ecosystems : global patterns and effects of management in agricultural soils
Sammanfattning : Denitrification is the dominant source of nitrous oxide (N2O) from terrestrial ecosystems, a potent greenhouse gas and stratospheric ozone-depleting agent. Fungi can perform denitrification and terminate the process with N2O, making them a potentially important source of N2O. LÄS MER
14. Sensory quality of pork : Influences of rearing system, feed, genotype, and sex
Sammanfattning : Hampshire crosses of different genotype and sex were used to investigate the effects of rearing system, feed and handling on sensory quality, consumer preference and cooking loss. A selected and trained panel carried out descriptive tests. Two preference tests were carrieout by, in each case, 200 consumers. LÄS MER
15. Drivers of soil fungal communities in boreal forests : feedbacks on soil fertility and decomposition
Sammanfattning : Boreal forests harbour diverse fungal communities with decisive roles in decomposition and plant nutrition. Difficulties in studying soil fungi have limited knowledge about how fungal communities are shaped. LÄS MER
