    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to identify and describe sloyd teachers and newly arrived students’ multimodal interaction and communication, and how this is expressed in sloyd teaching and the learning environment of the sloyd classroom. The study uses an ethnographic methodology and the empirical material is analysed at a micro and macro level, and a handheld camera is used to document sloyd teaching with newly arrived students at two elementary schools in Years 8–9, during one semester.     Sammanfattning : The thesis deals with questions of how the purpose and content in the Swedish school subject Sloyd can be understood in the present, some years after a new curriculum came into effect in 2011. Through sloyd teachers’ stories of their knowledge and the historical traces that have left a mark on their teaching, such as older syllabuses and mediated experiences, the intention is to examine the pedagogical thinking that forms the classroom’s activities.     Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study was to illuminate and question the school subject Sloyd from the perspective of the former pupils, now adult persons The empirical investigations cover interviews with subject teachers and adult, focusing their memories of the Sloyd subject in the compulsory school. The analysis shows that the impression of the qualities of the subject is connected to the pupil's personal and bodily experience of the work process in textile, wood or metal material. LÄS MER
