1. On the Electrolyte Induced Aggregation of Concentrated Silica Dispersions - An Experimental Investigation Using the Electrospray Technique
Sammanfattning : Gels are weak, solid-like structures that arise when colloidal particles aggregate to form a network of particle clusters. A variety of colloidal systems that are important scientifically as well as in industrial applications are capable of gel formation, e.g. globular protein solutions, colloid-polymer mixtures, and metal oxides. 2. Particle emissions from wood pellet combustion
Sammanfattning : Combustion of solid biomass under fixed bed conditions is a common technique to generate heat and power in both small and large scale grate furnaces (domestic boilers, stoves, district heating plants). Unfortunately, combustion of biomass will generate particle emissions containing both large fly ash particles and fine particles that consist of fly ash and soot. LÄS MER
3. Experimental and modelling studies of particle radiation in flames
Sammanfattning : Combustion of solid fuels is an important part of many industrial and power generation processes. The global use of coal in these processes is vast and thus also the related emissions of CO2 to the atmosphere. It is not possible to continue on the path with continuously increasing emissions of CO2 if the global climate targets should be met. LÄS MER
4. Hydrolytic Synthesis and Physicochemical Properties of TiO2 Nanoparticles: Fundamentals and Applications
Sammanfattning : Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles were synthesized via the hydrolysis of TiCl4 in order to produce clean, surfactant-free oxide surfaces. By controlling the synthesis and aging conditions, stable particles with well-defined size distributions were obtained. LÄS MER
5. Study of Catalyst Deactivation in Three Different Industrial Processes
Sammanfattning : Deactivation of catalysts were investigated focusing on three industrial processes: 1) Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) for abatement of NOx from biomass combustion using V2O5-WO3 /TiO2 catalysts; 2) Catalytic oxidation of volatile organic compounds (VOC) from printing industries using a Pt/γ-Al2O3 catalyst; and 3) Ni and Pt/Rh catalysts used in steam reforming reaction of bio-syngas obtained from biomass gasification. The aim has been to simulate industrial conditions in laboratory experiments in order to comprehend influence of compounds affecting catalysts performance.
