16. The high Arctic summer aerosol : Size, chemical composition, morphology and evolution over the pack-ice
Sammanfattning : Aerosol particles, especially in the high Arctic are still not very well represented in climate models. Particle size and number concentrations are strongly under-predicted and temporal variations of aerosol composition and size are still not very well understood, mainly due to the sparsity of observations. 17. Characterizing cavity containing materials using electron microscopy : A study of metal oxides, mesoporous crystals and porous material containing nanosized metal-particles
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the characterization of novel materials by utilizing electron microscopy techniques. The examined materials contain cavities with certain attributes that enables desired properties for applications such as gas separation, catalysis and fuel cells. LÄS MER
18. Structure Evolution during Phase Separation and Gelation of Biopolymer Mixtures
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the kinetics of phase separation and gelation in aqueous mixtures of gelatin and maltodextrin. The structure evolution of these mixtures at different length scales was recorded by confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The microstructure was quantified by image analysis. LÄS MER
19. Fullerene-like CNx and CPx Thin Films; Synthesis, Modeling, and Applications
Sammanfattning : This Thesis concerns the development of fullerene-like (FL) carbon nitride (CNx) thin films and the discovery of phosphorus-carbide (CPx) compounds. The work dedicated to CPx include first-principles theoretical simulations of the growth and properties of FL-CPx structures. LÄS MER
20. Towards the Integration of Carbon nanostructures into CMOS technology
Sammanfattning : Relentless efforts for miniaturization of traditional complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) devices have reached the limit where the device characteristics are governed by quantum phenomena which are difficult to control. This engendered a need for finding alternative new materials that can be engineered to fabricate devices that will possess at least the same or even better performance than existing CMOS devices.
