  1. 11. Foam Formation and Starch Gelatinization with Alpha-Crystalline Emulsifiers

    Författare :Gisela Richardson; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Food and drink technology; Livsmedelsteknik; image analysis.; rheology; microscopy; amylose-lipid complex; gelatinization; dynamical arrest; amylose; starch; sponge cake; foam; emulsifier; alpha-gel; physical state;

    Sammanfattning : In the baking industry, emulsifiers in the alpha-gel state are used for foam formation. This thesis focuses on some parts of the effects of the emulsifier: how the foam formation and foam stability are influenced by the physical state of the emulsifier, how emulsifiers change the gelatinization and gel formation of starch, and the impact that these factors may have in a true product such as a sponge cake. 4. 14. Additively Manufactured Inconel 718 : Microstructures and Mechanical Properties

    Författare :Dunyong Deng; Johan Moverare; Ru Lin Peng; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Additive manufacturing (AM), also known as 3D printing, has gained significant interest in aerospace, energy, automotive and medical industries due to its capabilities of manufacturing components that are either prohibitively costly or impossible to manufacture by conventional processes. Among the various additive manufacturing processes for metallic components, electron beam melting (EBM) and selective laser melting (SLM) are two of the most widely used powder bed based processes, and have shown great potential for manufacturing high-end critical components, such as turbine blades and customized medical implants. 5. 15. The enterocyte in small intestinal adaption : an experimental and clinicopathological study with special reference to the ultrastructure of the brush border

    Författare :Roger Stenling; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Scanning electron microscopy; transmission electron microscopy; stereology;

    Sammanfattning : The small intestine mucosa is known to be able to adapt itself to several kinds of both physiological and pathological conditions. The adaptive patterns of the structure of the enterocytes, particularly their apical surface (brush border), were studied in three models: (1) in rats, subjected to antrectomy or antral exclusion, combined with gastroduodenostomy and gastrojejunostomy; (2) in rats with alloxan diabetes; (3) in children with coeliac disease; a) in its active phase; b) after long-term treatment with gluten-free diets; c) after long-term challenge with dietary gluten following treatment; d) after short-term elimination of dietary gluten.
