1. Scaling techniques using CFD and wind tunnel measurements for use in aircraft design
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the problems of scaling aerodynamic data from wind tunnel conditions to free flight. The main challenges when this scaling should be performed is how the model support, wall interference and the potentially lower Reynolds number in the wind tunnel should be corrected. LÄS MER
2. CFD Methods for Predicting Aircraft Scaling Effects
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the problems of scaling aerodynamic data from wind tunnel to free flight conditions. The main challenges when this scaling should be performed is how the model support, wall interference and the potentially lower Reynolds number in the windtunnel should be corrected. LÄS MER
3. Fire behaviour of upholstered furniture component materials at multiple scales
Sammanfattning : In this research, both experimental test methods and computer models were used to characterise the thermal decomposition processes of selected upholstered furniture component materials, namely; flexible polyurethane foam and a range of different fabric coverings. This was first done at some of the smallest, simplest levels available, and how these materials were tested and the methods chosen to investigate them, was examined. LÄS MER
4. Functional Capacity And Physical Environmenal Demand. Exploration of Factors Influencing Everyday Activity and Health in the Elderly Population
Sammanfattning : The general aim of this thesis was to explore relationships between functional capacity, environmental factors, everyday activity, and health in the elderly population. Initially, the Enabler, an instrument for assessment of the physical home environment's accessibility, was translated to Swedish and revised, and tested for reliability and validity. LÄS MER
5. Expecting Happy Women, Not Detecting the Angry Ones : Detection and Perceived Intensity of Facial Anger, Happiness, and Emotionality
Sammanfattning : Faces provide cues for judgments regarding the emotional state of individuals. Using signal-detection methodology and a standardized stimulus set, the overall aim of the present dissertation was to investigate the detection of emotional facial expressions (i.e., angry and happy faces) with neutral expressions as the nontarget stimuli.
