11. Selected Topics in Homogenization
Sammanfattning : The main focus of the present thesis is on the homogenization of some selected elliptic and parabolic problems. More precisely, we homogenize: non-periodic linear elliptic problems in two dimensions exhibiting a homothetic scaling property; two types of evolution-multiscale linear parabolic problems, one having two spatial and two temporal microscopic scales where the latter ones are given in terms of a two-parameter family, and one having two spatial and three temporal microscopic scales that are fixed power functions; and, finally, evolution-multiscale monotone parabolic problems with one spatial and an arbitrary number of temporal microscopic scales that are not restricted to be given in terms of power functions. 12. The Technology and Economy of Farm-Scale, High-Solids Anaerobic Digestion of Plant Biomass
Sammanfattning : Anaerobic digestion is a microbially mediated process occurring in nature in the absence of oxygen and other non-carbonaceous electron acceptors. The majority of the carbon of the organic matter degraded in the process is transformed into carbon dioxide and methane. LÄS MER
13. The technical representation of returns to scale on cost and production functions
Sammanfattning : The basic purpose of this work is to present a general theory of returns to scale. It is a presentation of definitions, technical representations, and theorems into which returns to scale enter. LÄS MER
14. Att forma sitt rum : fullskalemodellering i participatoriska designprocesser
Sammanfattning : Architects design work sometimes originates from a simplified view of human demands and needs, which may result in environments that do not fulfill the users requirements. This thesis refers to five different case studies where the affected users were involved in the creation of their dwellings or working environment. LÄS MER
15. Optimisation methods for solving a large-scale avionics scheduling problem
Sammanfattning : Modern computer systems in aircraft are based on an integrated modular avionic architecture. In this architecture, software applications share hardware resources on a common avionic platform. Many functions in an aircraft are controlled by software and a failure in such software can have severe consequences. LÄS MER
