1. Critical degrees of saturation at freezing of porous and brittle materials
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on experimental work carried out during the period 1968-1972. The whole investigation is sponsored by the Swedish Council for Building Research and has been performed at the department of Building Materials at the Lund Institute of Technology. LÄS MER
2. Maturation of Clay Seals in Deep Bore Holes for Disposal of Radioactive waste : Theory and Experiments
Sammanfattning : KBS-3 and very deep borehole (VDH) concepts are two major types of long-term geologicaldisposal methods for high-level radioactive waste (HLW) isolating from the biosphere. TheKBS-3V concept for isolating the HLW at the depth of 400-500 m, is the officially proposedoption in Sweden and has been the subject of considerable research in the past few decades, while the VDH concept was considered as an option in the 1950s but later became discouragedbecause of insufficient experience in drilling technology. 3. Frost-induced deterioration of concrete in hydraulic structures : Interactions between water absorption, leaching and frost action
Sammanfattning : Frost deterioration of concrete can result in severe consequences to the safety, durability and functionality of a structure since it impairs the strength of the concrete. Frost damage may occur to structures that are in contact with water and subjected to frost action. LÄS MER
4. Gradient echo-based quantitative MRI of human brain at 7T : Mapping of T1, MT saturation and local flip angle
Sammanfattning : Quantitative MRI (qMRI) refers to the process of deriving maps of MR contrast parameters, such as relaxation times, from conventional images. If the qMRI maps have a high degree of precision and a low degree of bias, they can be compared longitudinally, across subjects, and (ideally) between measurement protocols and research sites. 5. Studies on oral clearance of citric acid and its effect on enamel erosion
Sammanfattning : Citric acid in foods is one of the most important factors causing erosionof enamel. The aims were to study citric acid clearance from the oral cavity, the effect of the clearance on the salivary saturation with respect to hydroxyapatite (OHAp) and the effect of the clearance rate and frequency of the citric acid challenges on enamel erosion.
