  1. 1. Unequal Probability Sampling in Active Learning and Traffic Safety

    Författare :Henrik Imberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; naturalistic driving; active learning; sampling weighing; optimal design; sequential sampling; probability sampling;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses a problem arising in large and expensive experiments where incomplete data come in abundance but statistical analyses require collection of additional information, which is costly. Out of practical and economical considerations, it is necessary to restrict the analysis to a subset of the original database, which inevitably will cause a loss of valuable information; thus, choosing this subset in a manner that captures as much of the available information as possible is essential. 2. 2. Uncertainty in environmental decision-making : effects of defined or undefined guidance in the decision process

    Författare :Karin Luthbom; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Waste Science and Technology; Avfallsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Decision-making in environmental issues often includes uncertainty in the input data and the resulting uncertainty when the data is used. Some spatial decisions are however taken without any formal analysis, meaning that the decision-makers have a mental map and preconceived notions about the decision options before the final decision actually is taken. 3. 3. Peptic ulcer disease in an adult population : the Kalixanda study – a population-based endoscopic study

    Författare :Pertti Aro; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Epidemiology; esophagogastroduodenoscopy EGD ; peptic ulcer disease PUD ; population-based.;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: The pattern of symptoms and perception of disease among patients seeking care does, due to health care seeking behaviour, most probably not reflect the true health status in the general population. Upper esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) is considered to be gold standard for upper gastrointestinal (GI) disease assessment, but is seldom used in epidemiological studies. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Care of the newborn in Uganda : studies of the use of simple affordable effective interventions

    Författare :Romano Nkumbwa Byaruhanga; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Neonatal mortality; newborn; hypothermia; skin to skin; Uganda;

    Sammanfattning : Background: There are evidence based cost effective interventions available, which could decrease neonatal mortality, if scaled up and delivered under ideal conditions. Aim: To determine the causes of perinatal deaths, risk factors for neonatal hypothermia and explore the acceptability and feasibility of recommended perinatal practices in hospital and community settings in Uganda.
