The following questions are asked: What are the common traits associated with the Spirit? What is the unique profile of each corpus? Can one corpus help us better understand the other?     Sammanfattning : This thesis deal with the common trait we find in the central parts of the theology of John Wesley and NFS Grundtvig, when we look at them in the perspective of some of the Eastern Greek church fathers and their theology. Wesleys inspiration from Macarius, Clemens of Alexandria, Gregor of Nyssa and other theologians of the early Greek church, and Grundtvigs inspiration from Irenaeus and the Greek Leitorgikón and other Greek theologians have influenced their thinking in the same direction. This study explores the characterization of the Virgin in the poetic works of Romanos the Melodist (ca. 490–560), the great composer of the so-called kontakion.
