Sammanfattning : The objectives of the thesis was to explore partner violence during pregnancy in Nicaragua – its prevalence and characteristics, how women perceive, understand and cope with it, its association with specific child outcomes such as low birth weight (LBW), small for gestational age (SGA) and preterm birth, and possible pathways. A cross-sectional community-based study was conducted with 478 pregnant women and for a sub-sample of 147 salivary cortisol was measured. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : Sjögren’s syndrome (SS) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) are systemic rheumatic autoimmune diseases having a major impact on patient’s wellbeing. Besides fatigue, pain and direct damage to exocrine glands in SS, and various target organs, such as skin, joints, kidneys and brain in SLE, these diseases confer an increased risk of lymphoma development and can cause an autoimmune condition in the foetus of pregnant patients, termed neonatal lupus.
