21. Cluster-Based Catalysts for Asymmetric Synthesis
Sammanfattning : In this work, the synthesis and characterisation of new low-valence transition metal carbonyl clusters, and an investigation into their viability to act as catalysts/catalyst precursors in asymmetric synthesis, are described. Carbonyl clusters based on ruthenium and osmium have been tested as (pre)catalysts for asymmetric hydrogenation of alpha-unsaturated carboxylic acids, and cobalt carbonyl clusters have been used as (pre)catalysts in (asymmetric) Pauson-Khand synthesis. 22. New Arylation Strategies Based on Organomain Group Reactivity
Sammanfattning : The work in this thesis describes the development of new heteroarylation methodology based on transition metal-catalysed C-H functionalisation and the properties of organomain group compounds. The underlying reaction mechanisms and reactivity patterns of the (hetero)arene substrates are also investigated. LÄS MER
23. Computational Studies on Homogeneous Water Oxidation Catalysts
Sammanfattning : To combat the increasing energy demand and climate change, artificial photosynthesis is a promising approach to producing renewables by storing energy into chemicals and fuels. Water oxidation, responsible for offering electrons and protons to the reduction reactions, suffers from slow kinetics. LÄS MER
24. Design, Synthesis, Mechanistic Rationalization and Application of Asymmetric Transition-Metal Catalysts
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes mechanistic studies, rational ligand design, and synthesis of asymmetric transition metal catalysts. The topics addressed concerned [Papers I-VII]:[I] The asymmetric addition of diethyl zinc to N-(diphenylphosphinoyl)benzalimine catalyzed by bicyclic 2-azanorbornyl-3-methanols was studied. LÄS MER
25. Molecular Copper and Ruthenium Water Oxidation Electrocatalysts for Light-Driven Water Splitting
Sammanfattning : In recent years, there has been a growing awareness of the need to transition to renewable energy to mitigate the effects of climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Governments, businesses, and individuals are investing in renewable energy infrastructure and technologies to create a more sustainable energy future. LÄS MER
